Dutch I bet you are please with this last find good on you Portland Rose, now you have more information to add to your list.

The other thing I have been doing have you search for trees on this site, if you search using the year of birth with 5 years around and look at the cornwall ones there are a few with dates of birth around the times that your cousins were born. It may be worth sending them a message

I found one for a William St Ives Cornwall 1921

and Alfred
1 in 1926 in Millbrook Cornwall
2 1925 Cornwall

so it may be worth getting in touch, you never know.

Turns out the marriage was in 1914 so that 1912 birth for Vera isn't looking so good.

Minnie

I did start to Look for Yvonne Stone last night but it was late so didn't get very far. I will see what I can do later,

Dutch

Can you remember would Yvonne be around your age 1939? I may have got that completely wrong (worked our your age of course). Or older or younger this would give me an idea of when to start looking.

The other thing that may help is can your Auntie remember when her sister Vera died or had she lost touch.

Irene

Irene Report 19 Dec 2008 09:02

Dutch

Now looked in the Births and Marriages overseas 1912-1920, couldn't find anything for Alfred mind you some of the pages were very poor and couldn't read them.

Any ideas what Winifred was doing out in Canada had her parents gone out there.

Penny Report 19 Dec 2008 08:59

so could Gordon have been Vera's husbands second name, do you think?

maybe his first name WAS Edward, and he prefered Gordon, for everyday use.

Anyone got the time to search for an Yvonne Stone, born Kerrier, mmn ( Peters?) sorry lost the plot a bit

Irene

Irene Report 19 Dec 2008 08:50

Hi Dutch, another important bit of information Vera was living in Kerrier when you visited. Thats where the Stone married, Amazing what you do know when you start to recall, I know it would be easier for us if you put it all down at the start but we don't always remember those little bits. If you have a book or even on the computer write all the details down that you have now given us. with the names of the children and add to it as you go don't forget to add the years. You will get a much better pictures.

I have look for births overseas and so far I haven't found Vera or Douglas, so was Alfred Canadian as well do you think, was Winifred or even your dad (what is your dad's surname).

We had one in our extented family who was in the Canadian Army in 1913, but I suppose they could then as it was part of the Empire!! It may be worth writing/emailing the army and asking if they would have records of marriages and births. Also where could you find them if they haven't

dutch Report 19 Dec 2008 08:31

Hi Irene
my cousin said that Vera was the eldest so im thinking she was born in Canada i know Douglas was,Vera was,nt living at home when my dad took me to visit she was already married with two children in Kerrier or Helston, does that help any,and thank you all for your time trying to help me,that was round 1945-46

Irene

Irene Report 19 Dec 2008 08:21

Hi Dutch, What you may need is to check the births aboard the Indexing books that were in London and now in Plymouth and which we can view on line, I will see if I can find anything.

The only way you will know if Vera born in W Ham is your Vera is to get the birth certificate.

The other way is where they were living look at the Elec Rolls Vera if she was as home when she was 21 would be included. No Elec Rolls in the War. You may not need an Address just the parish as some Elec Rolls are in name alpherbetical and some under Street.

dutch Report 19 Dec 2008 07:35

Hi Minnie, that does look good i think my cousin said her mum who was winnifred was 19 or there abouts when she got married and Vera was the oldest so i think she may have been born in Canada along with her brother Douglas, cant make the date out of Alfreds enlistment papers but winnifred is his next of kin

Well done

Vera M Peters Stone Kerrier Sept qtr 1937 5c 379

Edward G Stone

Thats going to be it, I guess

Edward GORDON Stone I'll bet.

-----------------------------------------

Maybe you could have told us atthe outset, that parents were married in Canada, and when.
That would have given us a time frame, at least.
Maybe Vera was born in Canada?
-------------------------------------------------------------

There are 2 obvious Vera M Stone deaths in cornwall, one 2005 other 1999.

both are listed as Vera MAY Stone
