Hello Sheila,
I'm sorry but I'm missing something....I looked at the 1881 census which tells us that Eliza was born in Knighton in about 1860 but you've mentioned that she was born in Church Stretton in 1858.
I was wondering where you got the information that she was born in Church Stretton.

Oh! I see now that it comes from a birth registration.
Is it possible that this birth isn't the right one. Birth registration wasn't compulsory until 1875 so it's possible that her birth was never registered.
Have you found Eliza after she married ?

I think this is the one born in Church Stretton, I am not sure you have the right person,

BIDDLESTONE, Richard Boarder Single M 23 1858 Puddler Iron Works
Kingswinford

DAVIES, Thomas F Nephew Single M 1 1880

I have them in 1871 also. same wife and Smith children but no Eliza.

I have reread 1881 and Eliza Davis is married. She would not be Davies in 1861.

In 1861, the children are noted as "Vaughan". Rob Vale is noted as a boarder also born in Church Stretton.

I think they are the same children that are then mentioned in 1871 as children of Joseph and Eliza Davis. Perhaps their parents died and the grandparents adopted them.

I have received this mesage from Sheila:

I think i have you confused sorry. If you go to 1891 census you will see that my grandmother by this time was married to a Thomas Richard Biddlestone and i believe that they were living at commonside, pensnett, brierley hill, staffs. It states there that she came from church stretton this is all very confusing sheila
