Hi Michelle,
Hes o.k. lost the plot and lashed out at a number of the staff within 10 mins of being there, have made him an appointment to be referred to the mental health team as there is an underlying issue going on which he has been struggling to deal with and with his communication difficulties it is difficult to help him.

Hi Michelle,
Found these four baptisms in Boxgrove John and Mary Ayling baptise
George 17th January 1769
Fanny 23rd February 1772
Sarah 19th? December 1773
James 25th May 1778
Neither John or Mary appear to be baptised here will look in neighbouring parish's for you next week.
Clare

Hi Maisy,
I was unable to find Henry, Harriet or John, looked in Broadwater worthing, Christchurch Worthing and in West Tarring will try neighbouring ones next week.
Clare

Hi Wendy,
The only marriage of a Mary Jupp to a Mitchell that I could find in the Horsham/Slaugham area was to a John Mitchell on the 5th October 1830 witnesses were a Henry Mitchell and a Mary Mitchell. No edward or Francis sorry. Could not see a baptism either but will look further a field next week.
Clare

Hi Alan,
William King marries Sarah Harbroe witnesses were Philip Puttock and Mary Worsford they married in May 1795 though not July. Not sure whether the 5th or the 15th looks like the minster wrote fiveth.
Clare

Hi Nicki,
So far I have looked in West Tarring, Broadwater worthing, Christchurch worthing and Goring the only baptism I found is Esther's
She was baptised in Goring parish church on the 12th March 1905 parents down as Ben and Annie Colbourne fathers occupation Brickfield foreman. Will look further a field next week.
Clare

Hi Liz,
Looked in Broadwater worthing for the marriage but no luck will look further a field for you next week.
Clare

Hi Lisa,
Looked at Shipley baptisms for you unfortunately both on fiche and on microfilm the page you are after is a very poor copy it is practically unreadable there is a posibility that one of the words says Francis but not certain and certainly couldn't read anything else on that line. I will order the original register down to look at next week and see if that is any clearer. They take about 20 minutes to get them down and I was running out of time today.

Clare: Thank you very much for looking. Since the page is so faint, please don't "waste" your time on something that you may not be able to read. I've only just started researching this line again, so there may be another way to find out more about the family.

I hope things are settling down for you. I'm sending positive thoughts your way. Thank you again for thinking of us and doing your best for others.

Clare Report 5 Feb 2009 19:54

Hi Liz,
No luck so far finding your marriage have so far ruled out these parish's Broadwater, West tarring, Sompting, Lancing, Goring and there are no marriages in Worthing Christchurch for the time period we are looking at.
Clare

Hi Lisa,
Mary Cooper baptised in Shipley by William and Susannah 24th July 1796
William Cooper burial in Shipley 22nd May 1811.
Could not find a baptism for William in Shipley the only Cooper's in Shipley baptising children in the right sort of time frame are a Robert and Jane Cooper they baptise
Richard Aug or Sep 1760
Charles 19th May 1763
Jenny 28th July 1765
Samuel 31st May 1767
James 3rd Sep 1769
Not sure if this is Williams parents and siblings or not but thought you might like them to hold onto in case you find a connection.

Looked at the actual parish register for Bettie today and it is much clearer.
John and Bettie Francis baptise Bettie 12th Jan 1727/1728. The baptism in this parish are divided into years but seem to start March 31st so in the 1727 baptism section it starts March and goes through to February so not certain whether it is 1727 it could be 1728.
Clare

Hi Nicki,
Found these two baptisms in Heene
Benjamin and Annie Colbourne baptise
Elizabeth Mary 9th Feb 1902 Birth E. Preston 2b 343 Dec Q 1901
William Harold Moses 5th July 1903 Birth E. Preston 2b 335 Jun Q 1903

Edith Annie Colbourne burial in Heene aged 2 14th March 1901

Have found no more baptisms and have now searched all E. Preston registration district parishs as well as Findon and Lancing in the neighbouring districts. Also checked the Methodist church in West Tarring Road, Worthing.

In Lancing there are three colbourne couples baptising children Walter and Ellen, Arthur and Caroline, Ernest and Eliza, just in case they tie in at a later date.

Joan Elizabeth Cooper is not Benjamin and Annies child as I found her being baptised by a Rupert Lionel and Kate Colbourne 27th Jan 1910 in Heene.

Not sure where else to look.
Clare

Hi everyone else did not get time to look any further with yours as only had the afternoon as had a Makaton course this morning at sons school but will be back in there next week.

Lisa J in California Report 6 Feb 2009 13:32

Clare:

Thank you very much for taking time to look.

My aunt has an old paper, similar to what would be in a family bible. Two ancestors entered family members' births, a couple of marriages, deaths and relationships of each person. This information matched IGI records almost perfectly.

Thank you for clearing up the mystery of Mary Cooper's year of birth!

I need to change her father's date of death, since the Shipley burial records have him buried several days before I show him as dying. [Note: Oddly enough, he was buried one day after his sister-in-law died. Since she was only 37 years old, I wonder if there was an illness or accident that involved both of them?]

I will definitely keep Robert and Jane's information; I've found connections long after finding the original information. In 1978, I found a possible distant relative of Mary Cooper's son-in-law. It was only a few years ago that I finally found the connection!

Thank you for the information about Bettie. I know people had trouble spelling so long ago, but this helps confirm some information I have. (Too boring to go into.) ;)

Clare, I have been thinking about you, your son and the school. I know how difficult things can get. While I don't have the same situation as you, we've had some "trying" times. I'm sending positive thoughts.
