Although I found the various threads here quite bamboozling, I can offer up the fact that one of my great-great aunts was called Rosa Louisa Glanvill, born 1876 in Islington. She was single and an "ironer" in 1901. I have nothing on her later life at all.
There may not be a connection, but it could be that people are searching for a Rose and not variations such as Rosa or even Rosina (another name in our family).

This is in same area as the Edgar Cox marriage

Births Dec 1907
COX Maud Grace Shoreditch 1c 55

Its not uncommon to find that the first and middle names are switched around sometimes. Had this with my own nan born 1903 and aunties in 1930's

OK, i have done the best i can and have gotten nowhere fast.

It's time for you to go back to the drawing board and get some more data.

The Croydon birth i don't think is right, but the only way to prove it is to order that cert.

So far we have nothing concrete on any of them!

When did Grace have the child with the tailor?

WayneTracey

WayneTracey Report 31 Jan 2009 20:54

...and nor was it right up to and including 1970.

So backwards we go.....are you sure she actually married this one?

WayneTracey

WayneTracey Report 31 Jan 2009 20:44

Right i have just search the complete BMD for all of the 1950's and there was only 1 Edward Handyside getting married and he did that in Northumberland....

So it's either earlier or later?

all her children were born cox as she wasn´t married to the fathers her eldest daughter was from the greek tailor and the other 3 were from frank butcher who was already married she changed her last name to butcher after some time thenwhen he died she married a edward handyside in the 50`s i think but the year isnt 100%

WayneTracey

WayneTracey Report 31 Jan 2009 20:28

I agree, but they are the only 2 children... and being married by 1905 and only having 2 by 1911 is going very slowly, i do not think she is yours. Not forgetting the fact her dad is called JOHN !

COX, GRACE DAUGHTER F 4 OLD TOWN CROYDON

That is from the 1911 census, her parents are listed as John & Rose Cox. She has a sister called Rose also whom is 2 years older.

I think this rules out the 1905 marriage as being the Rose you are looking for

Births Dec 1914 BIGNALL Enid D Glanvill Reigate 2a 351
