Hi all

Spoke to my friend today, we think that the Henry P Fox in Birmingham in 1901 is probably ours, apprently the family were wealthy and had nannies, so he could well have been left with the 'hired help'.

Will keep looking for his birth sure it will turn up these things have a habbit of doing so

I've said it before but no harm in saying it again Thanks for everyons help especially Eviebeavie and Heidi

Hi Eviebeavie, Heidi,Boro Girl.

Thanks for all your hard work last night, only just signed in and seen that you did some more do you never sleep!!

I will look into all the information you found more closely, with my friend later or tomorrow when we are supposed to be getting our turn of the snow! here in North Wales as we will be snowed in without a doubt.

I think the 1901 Henry P Fox is probably him.

I will also edit my thread as looking for Henry P Fox as suggested , to think I only started by wanting to find out if there was a problem at Ancestry!and look what I got.

Thanks you again I will let you know if there is any more progress

Hey, BoroGirl! Yup, Devon is home to one line of my ancestors. One of the tiniest hamlets of all -- Tamerton Folliot. ;)

I think it's settled that Dorothy was born there, and the family was there in 1891. It's just that the two older daughters of Louisa were in Lancashire in 1901, where the rest of the family also was, but boarding separately.

Now, just harkening back to the Hayne household with the Henry P Fox in 1901 -- the wife was a Greaves. Clutching at straws to find a connection, I see this in the list of births around the time with given name Prid*:

Births Mar 1902
Greeves Joseph Pridmore Doncaster 9c 883

But I think that's a mighty short straw. :)

Oh, I've tried Prid*, Bull*, Gard*r ... he ain't there in 1901, at least not so as he can be found.

I wonder whether, if he were in an institution -- born prematurely or otherwise ill, or being fostered for nursing or some such -- he would show only by his initials.

EvieBeavie

EvieBeavie Report 3 Feb 2009 22:28

Actually, in 1901 Nora and Dorothy are in Lancashire (not Devon).

Name: Nora H Bullers
Age: 9
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1892
Relation: Boarder
Where born: Gloucester, Gloucestershire, England

Name: Dorothy Bullers
Age: 11
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1890
Relation: Boarder
Where born: Torgnay, Devon, England

Town: St Anne On The Sea
County/Island: Lancashire

-- but Dorothy was born in Devon. So the 1891 Bullers-s in Torquay are them.

Hmm. We (you) kind of knew Margery's name all along, no?

In the household with Henry Pridmore Fox in 1911 are:

FOX ALFRED PRIDMERE M 1874 37 Birkenhead Cheshire
FOX LOUISE F 1865 46 Birkenhead Cheshire
>> FOX MARGERY MAUD F 1900 11 Birkenhead Cheshire

ok its screwy but he could of been at his grandparents of with friends maybe

EvieBeavie

EvieBeavie Report 3 Feb 2009 22:15

My grandfather believed all his life that he was born on 15 Dec 1900.

When he retired, he had to get his birth certificate to claim benefits.

Turned out he was born on 17 Dec 1901.

What people believe, or what their families think, is just not always correct.

Say, what's the chance of a mistranscription in the GRO?

Births Mar 1900
Cox Henry Alfred Aston 6d 239

Nah ... where would he have been in 1901??

That Henry A Cox is with his parents in Aston in 1901.

That's the big question.

If your Henry *was* the son of this couple, and *was* born in Feb 1900, where the &$@* is he in 1901??

Something's screwy in the info.

I was thinking the same -- Gail, you can edit your original subject line by clicking Edit in the first post, and make it something like

Henry Pridmore Fox, c1900, Birmingham

Just so it might interest more people.

Having experienced the same problem, I have e-mailed Ancestry, and to-day they replied, saying that they were updating the Quarterly Index part of their service, and hope to resume normal service shortly.
