Anne, an English birth certificate will not give you any information on when or where the parents married.

Hi Anne

Was son Albert (aged 2) born in Guildford Surrey, living in Portland Dorset with mother Mary A (aged 26) in 1901?

If you look on the 1911 census, there is an Albert SCHACHT (military), shows his age as 38 (born c1873), living in Guildford Surrey...with him is Mary Jane SCHACHT aged 36. But the children are shown as Hy Arthur (12), Ada Ethel (7), Richard Edward (5), Elsie Gladys (2) and Harold James (7 months).

Do any of these names ring a bell?

Marriage for Henry A B SCHACHT in Guildford in Mar qtr 1922 to Ivy M AYLING (2a 138).

The only other Albert is in Bethnal Green London with parents Edward & Jessie.
