Thank you for your information, I do not know any other information re Charles, yes he did die in WW1.

The death information regarding Esther looks interesting, i think to move forward i will have to obtain both the birth certificate for Charles and also the marriage certificate for Esther and Charles

I dont know anything about who the Minnie is apart from she used to live in Accrington as this is where my grandfather was brought up, unfortunately my grandfather is also deceased

I would be greatful if anyone could possibly find any further information on my last note. I am looking for further information on the Kershaws, specifically if there are any descendants from George or Minnie. Thank you

do you have a rough idea of Charles age. There are at least 3 Charles W Kershaws born in Rochdale and more in the surrounding areas in what is presumed to be the rough era of his birth

Maria

Maria Report 9 Apr 2009 01:04

Thank you Charles was born in Preston in 1897

lancashireAnn

lancashireAnn Report 9 Apr 2009 10:48

if your Charles was the one born in Preston then the Beardsworth connection is through his mother not wife

Lancashire Birth indexes for the years: 1897
KERSHAW Charles William
Trinity
mmn=BEARDSWORTH

and this is his parent's marriage

Lancashire Marriage indexes for the years: 1897
KERSHAW William Edward
BEARDSWORTH Minnie
Preston Register Office or Registrar Attended

Yes, Charles wife was Esther Hannah Hope, I have her ancesters, although i would like to know what happened to her after Charles died as Rowland was brought up by his auntie Minnie who i also do not know anything about

Thank you everyone, you have all been a tremendous help x

if you use the site lancashirebmd.org.uk you should be able to trace Minnie quite well as she was born in Preston. On this site Preston births have the mothers maiden name recorded so that you can then look for a marriage of parents etc etc
eg

Lancashire Birth indexes for the years: 1879

BEARDSWORTH Minnie
Longton Preston
mmn=YATES

sometimes if you are lucky if you use the site http://www.lan-opc.org.uk/ you can then sometimes find the appropriate entry in a parish register

thanks for the compliment Eavie - you do a fair bit yourself (understatement!)
