So is SUSAN on your birth certificate JUST down as SUSAN ?
( no second name )

Odds, are Susan was born in Scotland so the 1944 born in England is incorrect.

Peter

Peter Report 14 Apr 2009 22:26

Peter she didn't live at 396 Commercial Road Stepney, that 's the address of East End Maternity Hospital.

This is the website for the hospital archives although I don't know that they'll give you any information

http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/hospitalrecords/details.asp?id=140&page=18

I think you're going to have to keep chasing Social Service & if need be contact your MP & Frank Dobson MP for Camden Town

You could hope that someone who has access to the SCOTTISH INDEXES can find a SUSAN FRANKLAND's birth that may fit the approx age of Susan.

Hi Peter,

Right first things first, you do not know how old Susan was when she had you do you ? How long did you live with your Grandparents ? Have you any idea of their names ?

There is no longer anything at the address you gave

2 gravely avenue borehamwood

How long where you there, and where you ever adopted ? Maybe this place has closed down.

Try contacting this number and ask for someone who deals with children placed in care

Camden Town Hall
Judd Street
London WC1H 9JE
Phone: 020-7974 4444
Textphone: 020 7974 6866

There must be files somewhere, it may be possible that when you went to your Grandparents you records where send to Scotland, but as you where sent back to London there must be some thing there also, or poss in Stepney.

Claire in Wales

this is a C & P of a PM peter sent me.

Hello Wendy the home was just a house in borehamwood but the camden council had three more one in arundel drive and two in furzhill road to whitch they still refuse to admit to the person keeps saying it comes under hertfordshire (probaly cannot be bothered to check the records)

..I looked at it on Google Street view and it is a normal house on an estate. I have asked Peter if he has tried Herts social services but no reply yet.

BT on line has a listing for an M Frankland in Edinburgh. Altogether, there are only 4 listings for that surname in Edinburgh.

http://www.thephonebook.bt.com/publisha.content/en/search/residential/search.publisha

I will send them to Peter privately.

Could I just repeat ... again ... posting the birth details here of someone born in 1968, and thus undoubtedly still living (and really even someone born in the 40s) is not wise and not fair, when the person does not know s/he is being talked about on the internet and has not consented to the information being collected and published here.

Peter has been getting in touch with some of us by PM, and giving us access to his tree.

I don't usually look at people's trees when they do that -- I hate trying to navigate around someone else's tree, and I don't like the idea of opening trees to complete strangers (like me).

To try to help Peter, I decided to take a look. And I discovered that his tree is blank, that is, there seems to be one person, who is "hidden" because he is living -- I assume that's Peter himself.

I've explained to Peter that he needs to put himself and his mother in his tree. If he doesn't put a birthdate for his mother, then whenever someone searches for a Susan Frankland, they will find her in his tree and can contact him.

What I forgot to say, Peter -- do NOT select "hide living people". That is exactly what you don't want to do. You *want* people to find you if they search here at GenesReunited for you or your mother.

Hopefully, with all the suggestions in this thread, Peter will get somewhere with his search.

Hi Peter,

It is hard when you first start finding your way around this site, :O) listen the first thing you need to do is contact Hets SS, and get some info.

They should be able to give you some info, for instance her age, where she was from etc. this will give the rest of us something concrete to go on.

The problem we have it looks like she came from Scotland but worked and gave birth to you in England, in order to try and find what happened to her after your birth we need to have her full name.

If you find any of this info send us a pm and we will see if we can help you :O)

EvieBeavie

EvieBeavie Report 18 Apr 2009 19:52

And just to say - Evie didn't actually deliver any kicks. ;) Exchanged a dozen PMs, explaining how to do the tree, etc. ... and then Peter got a little sad-sack and a wee bit huffy, and I did get a little exasperated, but continued to say he should follow the good advice in this thread and insist that social services give him the assistance he is entitled to!

So yes, Peter -- do what Sheila tells you to do!
