Was he in the Forces during the war? Could the marriage have taken place abroad?

Hi Samantha ...well unless he married in that missing qtr of 1943 he must have married before 1938... what year was he born, so I can work out how early to look?

This is correct Lilian died in the April 1947 and then Norman married my nan in the October 1947 Lydia J Hatcher.
I cant find a marriage either and on the second marriage cert his is metioned as a widower. Im lost and confused.

but I have searched through the qtrs from 1938 to 47 (apart from the last qtr of 1943 which is missing and that is the only Norman C Chamley marriage....

no cant be her...are you sure it was Lilian ? I have the death but before that marriage!

Norman Charles Chamley came from Lambeth london, Lilian was from Salford but ive been unable to find a marriage for them, they never had any children.

I did say it wasnt much to go on.

Potty the marriage of Chamley to Murgatroyd is Samuel Chamley just found....1939 so not them...still looking lol

Don't think they are your family - there is marriage between a Samuel Chamley and Murgatroyd in 1939 in Salford.

This is the problem i have his name is Norman Charles Chamley and her first name was Lilian i do not have a maiden name for her and the only marriage that can be found for him is to my nan which is the second marriage.
Lilian came from Salford Manchester, she died in 1947 age 26 yrs

First things first lol...you want to find the first marriage yes? so put the name of husband and wife on here and I and others will be able to look .. give what dates you know and we will be able to point you to records that might help

Ok after months of not talking to my grandmother we have now spent the morning on the phone chatting away and have got little (very little) bits of infomation from her.

Her first husband was married before but i am unable to find any information on the first wife what so ever.
I ordered her death cert hoping that was going to help but to no joy.
Nan has now given me some new information but its still so little to go by without a surname plus i cant even find a marriage for this person.
Nan says that this person had sisters, not sure if older or younger and have now been given an area of where she came from.

Please where do i start?
