Re this marriage lancashireann posted:

Conley John Lambeth 1d 817 S
>>>Warnham William Edward Lambeth 1d 817

I was just browsing Warnhams in 1901 and saw William in Camberwell:

William Warnham 35
Alice Warnham 28
Alice Warnham 7
Ellen Warnham 5
Emma Warnham 2

So the marriage is actually

Marriages Dec 1893
Blakesley Alice Lambeth 1d 817 S
Warnham William Edward Lambeth 1d 817

;)

I was curious about these in St Saviour Southwark:

Hannah Brown 62 - mother of Caroline
Thomas Warnham 31 - general labourer, husband of Caroline
Caroline Warnham 24 - jam factory hand, daughter of Hannah
Charles Warnham 1
Thomas Warnham 3/12
George Barton 6 - grandson of Hannah

(My grandfather started working in the jam factory here in Ontario when he was 13. ;) )

Can't find a marriage for Caroline and Thomas, can't identify the Browns in 81 or 91. Wondered whether George Barton was a child of Caroline's from before Thomas Warnham, and whether she might have had another child either with him or who used his name ...

Another of those wild geese!

edit 13 Oct -- I looked back at the Brown-Warnham household in 1901, and someone has since corrected the surname to Wornham:

Marriages Jun 1899
Barlow Caroline Sarah St. Saviour 1d 176
Wornham Thomas St. Saviour 1d 176

(Barlow not Brown -- and grandson George Barton is actually Barlow on the image -- but whatever; no Constance birth to fit either)

I'm just toying with the idea that she might be a daughter of Walter's sister, (Louisa, Eliza, Esther). Maybe they were unmarried

Births Jun 1893
BRIDGLAND Constance May Lambeth 1d 486

Births Jun 1897

Looking for a Warnham/Bridgeland marriage but no luck yet.

lancashireAnn

lancashireAnn Report 14 May 2009 16:22

just a thought - if the 1901 census is correct it is likely she was born in 1892 not 1893. How old was she on the marriage certificate - death certificates are often unreliable for dates of birth as they are only as good as the informant thinks.

When searching original pages the names are in alphabetical order so even if unreadable should be in the right position for Warnham.

What a toughie!!
Worth bearing in mind Choccy's suggestion.
I too have searched 1893 index for likely births and the first and last qtr are very hard to read.

Only maybe's were:
Constance Warren (jan-Mar 1893) Hackney 1b 619
Constance May Warner (Jul- Sept) Tendring 1a 572

Cup of tea before the seach resumes!

Looking at the 1901 census again, do you think Constance could have been a niece of the boarder 'Jane Kitcheny' and not the Bridgmans, as she appears under the name of the boarder?

I found this - something to think about maybe -
