This is very new for me........My Father Charles William John Hockley and his uncle Leonard Hockley had done their apprentices under my Grandfather Charles Victor John Hockley....... I'm not sure how my Grandfather became a lighterman. My father has just passed and I have found all the certificates and a diary.

	I will be pointing her back this way but I have had a latenight clinic and homevisits all day yesterday. Just popped in quickly. I think it is James who is the waterman.

	What did you want to know about these men? I have some information on Thames watermen and lightermen but you dont seem to say what you actually want to find out? If you just want to find them in other peoples trees, checke out the search trees tab at the top of the page. I would point on that on many a marriage cert a dock labourer was "elevated" to one of these trades :)
