Harriet Langridge birth Maidstone 1842 March 5/299
It seems to be quite a common name, but this is the closest to Barming, and would be the reg district.

Unable to find Harriet and John on the 1871 census. Wanted to have a look for reference. Can anyone post it please.

(Julie) Thanks for giving me the confidence to apply for an on-line cert. I'm a newbee to this and one never knows if they are doing the right thing.
So, thanks very much.

Any other avenues for research would be much appreciated.

Certificates are easily ordered at...

http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

They cost 7 pound (about $15 Australian ; ?? N.Z.) depending on the exchange rate.

The marriage certificate should tell you if this was her 2nd marriage, her fathers name and occupation, or if he was deceased.

This should make it easier to find her on census records.

Hello Julie.
Thankyou - Unfortunately I don't have marriage cert. The Marriage details appeared on a daughters birth certificate (In NZ).

Do you have their marriage certificate ?
It would at least confirm her fathers name...

It may also tell you if this is a second marriage for Harriett

England & Wales, FreeBMD Marriage Index: 1837-1983 about John Miller
Name: John Miller
Year of Registration: 1869
Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec
District: Malling
County: Kent
Volume: 2a

.... to ...Harriett Langridge

Does anyone have any ideas as to where I could search now???
My Harriet Langridge was born Barming, Kent (as per the 1871 census for West Malling). She apparently married John Edwin Jacob Miller in West Malling 20 Sept 1869.
Unfortunately Harriets age seems to alter every record, her birth varies between 1838 -1844 Her death cert (In NZ) Dec 1878 had her age at 40. And the 1871 Census was 28y/o.
Also on her Death Certificate it stated her parents names were:James and Mary.
Where oh where can I go now for any further information on her?
