Hi Dianne
Could you possibly check for any children born to Elizabeth Seaton and Charles Tanner between 1854 and 1857 in Victoria please. They married in 1854 and the earliest child I have is Matilda born 1857.
Charles was a widower and the marriage cert states that he was 36 with 2 living and 3 dead children. He was born in Bristol, UK, so not sure where his first marriage took place or when he went to Australia so any information on this would be great if it is not too much trouble.
Regards
Ann

Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you but have been in hospital for surgery.

Many, many thanks for the info you found on the Gilletts! Your work is much appreciated.

Hi Dianne,

The death registration looks a good possibility as John Macauley was born about 1876.

Appreciate if you will keep looking.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Alan
The closest I can find with just a quick look is the death of a John Macaulay aged 74 in Sth Yarra Victoria in 1951. Father John, mother unknown.
There was no marriage in Vic pre 1913 of any John born overseas.
No marriage in SA of a John with the right father.
There were 6 marriages of a John in NSW 1902-1915 and it could be any one of them. Also no deaths pre 1972 in NSW with the right parents.
No marriage pre 1915 in Qld.
The only John as a passenger on ships to Victoria was aged 33 in 1898, so age wrong.
Will keep trying.

Hi Dianne

Thanks for your offer

I am hoping you might be able to help me but the info I have is rather limited. I am looking for the marriage of John Macauley ( Born circa 1877 in Ireland) he emigrated to Australia from England between 1891 and 1901 sorry I can't be more precise. His parents were John Michael Macauley and Catherine Lynskey.

Unfortunately. I do not know the state.

Alan

Hi Dianne,

Thanks for your prompt reply. I really am not sure if these two folks are parents of those I seek. I need to do a lot more digging, which will take some time!

Thanks also for your kind offer to go back further but that will be a waste of your time until I know more.

I do appreciate your prompt response, Dianne. Thank you. Have a great week.

Ciao,

Barry

Hi Barry
The only Dunlop/Hutchinson union in Victoria was of Evelyn Alexandra Dunlop to Vincent Roy Hutchinson in 1940.
Evelyn died 1954 aged 48 the d/o William and Alice nee Mcgrath. They married in 1900.
3 children born to them 1902-1905.
I can go back further with the Dunlops if you'd like

Thanks very much for looking, Dianne. Some we win - and some we lose! lol.

Just thinking (dangerous!) in the latter years to 1942, is there a marriage of a Dunlop or Hutchinson to each other or to others? Both understood born in England; no further information or Christian names, however. Thanks again.

Ciao.

Sorry Diane - I posted a thanks and reply earlier but must have got lost in cyber space.

But thanks again - I guess getting the marriage certificate is the way to go but I am reluctant as this chap married my 5th Cousin, so quite a distant relative BUT he could well be related to other Gilletts I have in my tree.

I will keep a note of the couple you found who married in 1930, just in case - do you happen to know where they married. please?

Many thanks

Sue

Hi Dianne. Thanks for your kind offer.

In Victoria, about 1940, can you find a birth for Kate Mary Dunlop (or possibly Hutchinson; this might be her mother's maiden name).

Kate married Chris Ronald Bryant about 1963, very possibly in Melbourne. Any info on this marriage, please, witnesses etc. if given?

Many thanks for your time,

Kind regards,

Barry

Sue
Do you have his marriage or death cert?
There is only one possible connected marriage of a Walter Henry Gillett to Mavis Florence Hawke 7/6/1930.
As the SA births CD only goes up to 1928, and I assume your Wally wasn't born till possibly the mid 1930's I recommend you get his marriage cert, it should show his father and his age, and possibly where born.

I did find a WW2 record for a Thomas Joseph Wright, born 15/11/1914 Broken Hill.
This Thomas Joseph [s/o Thomas Joseph] married Rita Ethel Goodwin 11/7/1936 in Methodist Manse, Brompton, SA.
There was also another possible daughter, Jean, bc 1913, who married Raymond Alexander English 18/4/1935 in Norwood, SA

Hi Dianne,

I have a Thomas Walter (Wally) GILLETT who I think was born in Queensland or South Australia. Only info I have for him is that he married Marie Smith on 20 Dec 1952 in Methodist Church, Graceville. And that he died 3 Apr 1992 in Brisbane.

Finding his birth would be great!

Thanks Dianne

I already knew about Pauline as she was my husbands mother, she died very young and my husband was adopted. It is a very long story but Cecil Coleman wasn't his father.

Iam trying to find out more of my husbands background through these other relatives.

Mary agnes Wright ( nee Armstrong) formerly Pater was my husbands grandmother
If you could please do another lookup for me regarding her husband Thomas Joseph Wright -1888. Did he have any children from his previous marriage as it states he was a widower when he married Mary.

Nicolas Pater was my husband grandfather and I have just recently found out he was an immigrant from Luxembourg- if we have no record of his death could he have gone back?

Christina Margaret is the one I'm most interested in finding out about as she may have had children who would subsequently be cousins of my husband.

Once again
thankyou and if you are able to find out more it would be a step in solving this puzzle

Deborah

I have found the marriage of Christina's sister Pauline in 1934 to Cecil Coleman, but I cannot find a marriage or death for Christina pre 1937 in SA
Cecil was buried in Centennial Pk SA , 21/7/2004, aged 91.
Will keep in touch if anything more comes to light

There was a marriage of an Albert Clark, born circ 1879, s/o William to Annie Connoly 11/6/1902 in Norwood, SA.
Children born in SA, Albert Raymond Edward, 1903, William Osratton 1905, 1907, 1916. This Albert was named as Albert Ottey Parry Clark at the birth of Joseph in 1916, so may not be the right one?
