The only baptism in the Indexes for a Rachel PRIMER is this one:-
27 April 1774-Rachel d Elizabeth PRIMER

There is not an earlier marriage for her and the one to Thomas does not appear in the Index

I found the marriage record at the Hampshire Records Office in Winchester when I was there 2 weeks ago.

Yes that is correct. My James Burgess married Jane Blackburn 5/12/1833 in Overton.

Two separate contacts of mine gave me James Burgess death in Overton in 1835 age 32. The James Burgess born 1814 is about 11 years later than my James.

There was a James Burgess baptised in Whitchurch in 1799. Perhaps he is my James ?

To continue you would need to know the name of at least 1 parent.

I dont know where u live but the only place to get records is at the Hampshire Records Office in Winchester. That is where they keep all of Hampshire church records.

The records I looked at are quite good and complete.

A contact of mine told me a James Burgess was baptised in Whitchurch 16th June 1799 to William & Sarah.

Seeing as there are no James Burgess candidates c1803 in Overton i reckon the above James is the most likely candidate.

Thanks for that info on where to look at the records. I shall pay a visit to the archives as i am about an hours drive away.

Please let me know what you find at the records office. Thomas Burgess born Oct 27 1776 was born in Whitchurch also. Would be interested to find if there is a connection somewhere in the line.

I reckon there could well be a connection somewhere between my James Burgess and your Thomas Burgess.
