Using Maureens fabulous site;

Surname Forename(s) Mother's Maiden Name Year Sub-District Regis
MILLARD Maria BARRY 1842 Lansdown Bath Bath LNS/4/215
MILLARD Daniel BARRY 1840 Lansdown Bath Bath LNS/2/329
MILLARD William BARRY 1838 Lansdown Bath Bath LNS/1/285

So Elizabeth Millard is NOT Thomas and Elizabeth Millards child!!!!

Oh my God!!!! loving the criminal in the family!!! what a find Dee! was this information from Ancestry.co.uk? I wonder what she stole???? and it wasn't the first time!!!

Maybe Henry was in prison as well!! oh my god what a family, good old Henry may have been a silk thief.

The census information is fantastic, they must have been looking after her while her mum was in prison!

How jucy!! got to go and tell my mum!!

Thank you x

Now Daniel and William Millard are registered at Bath for their births and the dates would be correct with the 1841 census, however the only Elizabeth Millard registered is;

Surname First name(s) District Vol Page
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Births Dec 1841
-------------------------------------------------
Millard Elizabeth Bath 11 24

This would be after the 1841 census ............. looking more and more like Elizabeth Bulger has become a Millard????

The 1841 census I found for Caroline has this Millard family living next to her......... just have a look at the ages and how they go down in age, 1 person is out of the sequence;

1841 England Census
about Elizabeth Millard
Name: Elizabeth Millard
Age: 2
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1839
Gender: Female
Where born: Somerset, England

Civil parish: Walcot
Hundred: Bath Forum
County/Island: Somerset
Country: England

Street Address:

Occupation: View image

Registration district: Bath
Sub-registration district: Lansdown
Neighbors: View others on page
Household Members: Name Age
Thos Millard 45
Elizth Millard 40
Thos Millard 25
Mary Millard 15
Susanna Millard 14
Lech Millard 8
Jane Millard 4
Wm Millard 3
Daniel Millard 1
Elizabeth Millard 2 <<<<<<< Could this be Elizabeth Bulger????

Normally the ages of the children descend from the eldest to the youngest, and then guests, visitors etc... normally after them, so could this be a cousin?

New South Wales and Tasmania, Australia, Convict Pardons and Tickets of Leave, 1834-1859
about Caroline Bulger
Name: Caroline Bulger
Vessel: Tasmania
Piece: HO 10/62
Province: Tasmania
Title: Pardons
Year(s): 1852-1853
Place of Conviction: Bath

11th April 1844 is stated when she was convicted which ties in with the above sentencing. Caroline did 9 years and 2 months of her sentence.

This is her coming back.

Australian Convict Transportation Registers – Other Fleets & Ships, 1791-1868

Vessel: Tasmania
Convicted Date: 11 Apr 1844

Now I can't see your Caroline after the 1841 census............ so is this the reason why??? And would Henry maybe change his name???

I'm sorry Julia I still can't see anything for Elizabeth or Henry Bulger.

I'm wondering whether Henry Bulger was her "saving face" father......... the Sandalls of realitively good stock and she may have been illegitemate??? Therefore a father who was a silk merchant would have put her on a level pegging in the class stakes??

This is just my theory though, I'm really hoping that someone else will pop in and say "there you go" and prove me wrong.

All the best, dee x

Julia

Julia Report 27 Aug 2009 16:51

Could be Millard, the writing is hard to read x

Julia

Julia Report 27 Aug 2009 16:49

Thanks Dee,

Fantastic, yes you would be right as all the Sandall men down the line were cabinet makers!

I appreciate you looking, thank you.
