Linda Report 8 Aug 2009 05:08

I certainly would, if they can do a proper check of the marriage between elijah and catherine/keren they may come up with new clues, and this may help if it is the correct catherine:

Name: Catharine Davy
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1802
Year of Registration: 1886
Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec
Age at Death: 84
District: Docking
County: Norfolk
Volume: 4b
Page: 223 (click to see others on page)

It depends on who registered the death and what they knew about her.

Regards Linda :)

Linda Report 8 Aug 2009 04:39

Well, here are catherine and elijah in the 1841 census:

Name: Elizah Davy
Age: 40
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1801
Gender: Male
Where born: Norfolk, England

Civil parish: Great Yarmouth
Hundred: Great Yarmouth
County/Island: Norfolk
Country: England

Street Address:

Occupation: View image

Registration district: Great Yarmouth
Sub-registration district: Northern
Neighbors: View others on page
Household Members: Name Age
Elizah Davy 40 (mistranscribed)
Catherine Davy 40
Elizabeth Davy 12
Ann Davy 14
Adaliade Davy 6
Emma Davy 3

So now we try and find the childrens births and see what maiden name catherine/keren has given. And a suggestion? I would change my thread name to david gowing, norfolk and someone there may be able to check the local library.

Regards Linda :)

Kerrenhapuch is a christian name, I have come across it before. That 1841 census is Kerrenhapuch Candler, the transcriber has just separated the Kerren from the Hapuch.
