Yes that is him Andrew born to Alexr Hutchison and Joan Gold The film you are referring to is the one I ordered in to view and I took copies of all relevant family members that I needed. Maybe I missed something may have to order it in again. Alexr and Joan are in the 1841 census with all the family attached. Joan died in Loaningfoot in her eighties. Alexander 1798 died 1849 The parish register says he died leaning against a hip garden gate

I did look at the entry for an Alexander born in 1738 and put a query on it. because if Katharine is the correct one born in 1759 it would make him well possibley 40 odd years older than her.

thinking on that entry for 1738 it is possible, maybe Katherine was his second wife and being a lot older then her ,Died,

That is also a possibility that he was married twice, I just checked Scotlands people and the Hutchins you mention came from Fife. Thanks for your time and patience.

Just used most of my credits I checked to see if there were any marriages for the children other than Alexr 1798 and found not one marriage in Lanark area. I wonder if they ended up in the poor house or orphanage. Could not find a marriage for Katharine in Lanark either after 1800 near by so wondering if she also died , maybe at John's birth. Where did they go to???? Oh well maybe one day. I even googled the phone book for Douglas and found a Hutchison there but have not rung to find out if remotely connected. I will also wonder if Kirk sessions have anything listed or the Coventers etc.

most marriages took place in the brides village so it may be best to find where Katherine came from and where they were living when John died

It was the Douglas parish register that I viewed. If Archibald Morison and Isobel Johnston are her parents they too are in Douglas.

Thanks Sablon for your amazing efforts. It is time for me to visit the sandman as it is 2:30 am here in Oz.
It has been quite a frustrating time to find these two. But who knows???
nite nite.

Hi Elaine,
Just thought that the following may help you to find the correct births/parents for Alexander Hutchison & Katharine Morison.

In Scotland they tended to use the Scottish naming pattern.

1ST DAUGHTER - MARGARET- NAMED AFTER THE MOTHER'S MOTHER.
2ND DAUGHTER - JEAN - NAMED AFTER THE FATHER'S MOTHER.
1ST SON - ARCHIBALD - NAMED AFTER THE FATHER'S FATHER
2ND SON - ALEXANDER- NAMED AFTER THE MOTHER'S FATHER
( OR THE FATHER)

So maybe looking for Alexander's parents being Archibald & Jean and Katharine's parents being Alexander & Margaret.
It might not help but just thought I would mention it incase you weren't aware of the naming pattern.

Regards
Kath

Thanks Kath, I had thought of that theory thats why I thought Archibald Morison may be Katharines Dad. No child is called Isobel so I had put those two aside. I have looked for a Margaret etc trying to put that theory to the test. Archibald Fits. I think I will have to order in the Parochial films again and go through them a bit more frugally. I thought I did a good job last time taking 6 weeks, but I may very well have overlooked something. The writing is in the old hand where and f is an s etc. So takes time. They will only let me copy 5 pages at a time so it can be lenghty.
