Thanks yet again Brenda.

Hi all helpers. I now have Alfred William Simmonds (1875) marriage certificate, which shows his parents as Daniel and Martha. Yet all official documents show him as William. Which has caused me a lot of confusion. This seems to be the case with one or two others in his family that dropped their first names! Other documents show that there was a close relationship with Elizabeth Harriet and Catherine Margaret and their respective families in their twilight years.
Regarding the rest of that family, I have to search for details of John (Charles?) Simmonds 1880 bBisham. Reg: Cookham 2c 442?
I think we have Henry 1873 (although Brenda has him born 1878. Eton 3a 522? And Annie1884 married Walter Edward Searle?

Hi Terence,

Just a little correction...........I do NOT believe that Agnes Sarah Pithers married Henry son of Daniel and Martha.
The Henry born Eton ( Births Dec 1878 Simmonds Henry Eton 3a 522) appears to be the one that married her as shown by the 1911 census return on page 2.

This is most likely your Henry:-

Births Dec 1873
SIMMONDS Henry Cookham 2c 392

I have not been able to trace him however. He does not appear on the 1891 census with his parents.

If you were to purchase this marriage certificate, then you could be sure that this was your "Annie"

Marriages Mar 1905
Searle Walter Edward Lewisham 1d 1219
Simmonds Sarah Annie Lewisham 1d 1219

The 1911 census (on page 2) would seem to support this .

Many thanks again Brenda It looks like I have information for all of Daniel & Martha's children. There is one mystery that we (my sister and I) have still to find. That is, information of a "Nancy" who we remember as much as Elizabeth and William at around the same age in their 'twylight years'. We assumed that she was a child of D & M's family, but then thought she might have married into the family, but with all the information that you, Barb and others have so kindly found for me, I have not seen reference to a "Nancy" anywhere!
My next job is to put all the respective families of D & M together on one reference sheet and consider marriage certificates for the ones I don't have. Then I will go back to the Hazell/Meads side (with any of them going to Tasmania) and continue there, but I will check on this column regularly. Again, many, many thanks to all you 'helpers'.
Terence.

NANCY

Gender: Feminine

Usage: English

Previously a medieval diminutive of ANNIS, though since the 18th century it has been a diminutive of ANNE (1). It is now usually regarded as an independent name. During the 20th century it became very popular in the United States. A city in the Lorraine region of France bears this name, though it derives from a different source.

could she be your "Annie" ?

Thanks Brenda, that is food for thought regarding Nancy/Anne. I have sent an email to another GR member regarding this family.
