And the 1851 says he was born in Hutton Bushell, and in that census his wife is called Ellen (common for Eleanors) and his surname is spelled Cockrill.

You know this, I assume? If you're asking people to help in searches, why not offer all the info you have?

I realize you have an aversion to purchasing certificates -- but I don't know how else anyone could tell you who William's father was!

William married Eleanor Anderson in Hutton Buschel Scarborough in c jun 1941 ( from freebmd ). yes i have looked on family search and cant fimd him

And for those of us who aren't local - Hackness is ... where? Mm, Scarb - Scarborough, Yorkshire?


And - do you know who William married, have you looked for the marriage in the IGI or at FreeBMD if the marriage was after 1837, and if it was after 1837 are you ordering the marriage certificate to get the father's name?

Can anyone tell me who William Cockerill b 1813 Hackness Scarb father was please? then if you feel really helpfull who was his grandfather?
