In that case, try the bona vacantia site and see what turns up!

Morning Janet
I have already googled the company early hours this morning when i got in and have spoken with the company this morning and yes its all above board, i was jusy wondering if there was anyway of finding out more info on the Estate (ie wills and probates) and how i would go about it as the man did say if i tell you to much now you would end up doing your own research and they wouldnt get their cut of comission (well hey ofcourse im gonna look for myself if i can who wouldnt?)

Have you google searched the company's name? I assume you want to know they are genuine.
You can have a look for yourself by going to this site:
www.bonavacantia.gov.uk
this lists unclaimed estates and there is a form you can fill in if you believe you are entitled. You can also contact them by phone or email, not sure but they might advise you. Maybe Citizen's advice could help too. (Saw them mentioned on BBC site re. Heir Hunters).

Sam

there is a thread, I think on General, about someone who was contacted by a company that hunts up heirs

Thta company requested about 33% of the inheritance amount as "payment". Thye would not even divulge the name of the ancestor and how they were related until the letters were signed agreeing to them receiving this comission.

In that case, I think 4 siblings were involved.

I have been to visit my aunt this afternoon and have now only just got in after her showing me a letter that she has received from a company saying she is in line for some money she has asked my dad if he has received a letter which he says he has not.
This is to do with their blood fathers great grandparents but as i am researching the tree they are not the bloodline great grand parents these people are the stepfather's bloodline, but however they do have their information correct.
I have advised her to contact them to see what it may all be about but she has said she may leave it to me to deal with for her as i have all the information of the family tree.
How exciting could this be or just nothing atall
