This is the most probable birth for James going on the 1841 census for him,it will give you his mothers maiden name.

I have found my great x 3 grandparents in the 1841 census living at Bedford Street with 2 of their children.

Joseph 25
Sarah 20
John 3
James 1year 4 months

my question really is Sarahs maiden name,I have found a Sarah Dayes marrying a Joseph in 1839 right area. When I have viewed peoples treeson here they have her as Sarah Hampson. The only one I can find married in Manchester to a John Shaw and not Joseph.
Thanks Julie
