Pollypoppet: thanks for suggestion, have thought about that but aren't they more to do with missing persons? Mum says it was a private adoption - dont know if that makes things more difficult, but anyway, I have registered in obvious places (GRO/NORCAP) which presumably he would be directed to if he started to look for Mum. Might get in touch with SA anyway, thanks.

JBE: Have done what u suggested, and sent birthday request to a radio show. Fingers crossed!

Hello Madeline,
Good luck in your search, l would just like to say 4 years ago l lost my mum to lung cancer and since then lve been researching my family tree. My mum had a sister called edna who my mother never met because edna was born out of wedlock and she married a canadian and moved out to canada and started a family.
I had alot of help from researchers from genes that helped me track down edna's family and lve been in touch, its such a shame mum isnt here to see what lve done.

Hello pet,
Never give up you will find what you need. I am now 67 and never had my hands on a computer until 2 years ago. Now I have traced my family to God knows when. Keep trying my love it will eventually all fit in.

Just wanted to say good luck to you and will keep my fingers crossed for you
I found my Dads Sister for him a few weeks back they had been seperated for 75 years
Both put in diffrent foster homes she was 2 and my dad was 4
So it just shows you it can happen
Dont ever give up hope x
