Quayle rings no bells, I really have no clue to my nans maiden name.

good observation Shirley once I find my nans maiden name then I can trace their marriage because my grandad was born in Sydney so it gets worse lol

Quayle ring any bells?

That explains why I can't trace them on FreeBDM (thank you) my nans name was Florence and your right the death certificate does not contain her maden name because I recieved this in the post today from my step-mother.

Siblings I'm only guessing at his brothers name as John but his sisters name was Audrey.

I have my fathers war medals here and a couple of merchant navy ones and my grandfather was in the merchant navy, I searched and paid for a copy of Browns and I hit a double whammy as my father and grandfathers names were on the same sheet and told me how many medals the both recieved (well my family recieved on behalf of my grand father)

FreeBMD doesnt have death records of 1962 they will be on Ancestry that have to be looked up on a yearly basis,
What was nans christian name ? Im sure we can find her death BUT I dont think in the 1960,s the maiden name was recorded on death certs.
Did you dad have any siblings, maybe looking for their births will give a clue to your dads cert record

Jeff1 Report 6 Nov 2009 17:49

Sorry he was born in 1925, My grandfather died in 1942, see how confused I am lol

I've even searched the FreeBMD for my nan who died on the 13th Dec 1962 and its not listed on there, I'm really trying to find her maden name.

Sorry for the confusion.

Hi Jeff,

You say your father was born in 1925 but later you say he was born 1942.

Which year was it?

Hi

Well you've just confused me too ;-)))))

You say your father Frederick Cecil Brown born 17 Nov 1925 and then further down you say you've searched for marriages for his parents up to 1942 **(when my father was born)**

I'm really confused here?
My fathers Name was Frederick Cecil Brown born 17th Nov 1925 after doing a search I found what I thought was him and his mothers maiden name to be Halsall but the place of birth was in wigan.

Now at the time of my fathers Birth my nan & grandad were living in Liverpool, I found this from details on the web about my grandad when I discovered his address in 1942 when he was killed on board S.S..Ceramic, Now when my Nan died in December 1962 it listed her address as the same one as in 1942 and this was in Liverpool at the same address.

Now I have searched and crossed searched for Benjamin Brown and Florence (maiden name unknown) I'm sure its not Halsall maybe I'm wrong. But I cross searched for their marriage between 1916 (made them both around 18 years old) to 1942 (when my father was born) but I'm unable to trace Brown and Halsall together.

I have spent hours and hours searching and re-searching and I'm about to give it all up before my brain fry's lol, so one last shout for help from anyone who may be able to see where if I am going wrong and maybe point me in the right direction.
Thanks to everyone who has helped me Just recently.
