Loving a puzzle, will just stick this here to get it into my threads for now as I have to get some work done -- with Margaret and Maureen on the case there should be some good stuff in the thread, so I'll take a gander later!

Hate to be the "doom and gloom" type, but I have serious doubts as to John W Kilner being the actual biological father. He and Jane just didn't see to be together.
As Margaret pointed out,the kids MUST be registered somewhere. But under what???
The 1901 suggests middle names for May and John. Do you know what they are?
And have you found Jane in 1891?

Sounds as though you've done a good job of hunting so far,Michelle!
Janey will probably have you back to 1066 before you know it!

Naw! Janey isn't that good.
So curious that those 2 children that you found, Maureen are right age, right middle initial but are not Jane's. But you know, on the 1901 census it doesn't say that they're Jane's children, they're all boarders.

MaureeninNY Report 13 Nov 2009 17:36

Good point,Margaret,(about the children being Jane's). Shouldn't make assumptions.

And I'll let YOU deal with Janey...

OK-I see what you mean.
Gertrude Eliza Kilner
Christening:
06 MAR 1892 Yorkshire West Riding, , Yorkshire, England

Parents:
Father: John William Kilner
Mother: Jane Elizabeth

Source Information:
C033616

She and brother? George Frederick are with the KILNERs in 1901.
Hmmm. Well that makes me feel a bit better. At least it looks like they were together at SOME point.
I've lost John William on the 1901,though. Where is he?

Michelle, when I asked about the middle names-did you give me the names of children whose birth certs you've checked out already or something?? I didn't mean the ones I'd already pointed out,but rather the middle names of "your" people.

Might have to close down the 'puter soon. We've got a wicked storm blowing here.

Was going to ask you, Maureen, whereabouts in NY you are. Thought it would be funny if you were just across the river from me. Guess not, you're talking about a wicked storm and it's a beautiful sunny day here.
