Eringobragh1916 Report 9 Dec 2009 17:01

Elaine...I thought you had the info.re Brid and John's children...???

These are what I found All Lancaster..Births and Deaths...
The deaths for the Timlins also Lancaster.

Thomas b 1860 died 1861
James b.1863 died 1864
Jane b.1866 died 1871 aged 5yrs.
Ellen b 1868 died 1868
Edward b.1870 died 1870
Anthony b.1872 died 1872.

Mary born 1862 survived (1881Census)and went on to marry John McGuire
John born 1865 survived was also on 1881 census..thre is a Death Registered for a John Salmon aged 32yrs. 1886..could possibly be him.
I have also realised there is no Bridget..(Child).. the next female child born after Jane(1866) would be normally be named after her mother..Bridget.

Eringobragh1916 Report 8 Dec 2009 21:43

Elaine...Have just been browsing around and found the following re Timlin...

Thomas Timlin died 1875.
Mary (wife) died 1887
Anthony (Son) died 1887....

Interesting to find out where Ellen/Annie/James were 1991....

The other thing thats puzzling is John and Brids children...I cannot find a Birth or a death for a Patrick Timlin..despite the fact they seem to have followed the Irish traditional naming pattern..there is no Patrick ...which makes me wonder if

Patrick was actually born "Patrick" Salmon or just known as Patrick..I am tempted to think it may have been James...(Brids 3rd child born/died 1863/4)

Elaine

Elaine Report 8 Dec 2009 21:39

no probs....not sure about catherine flyn she popped up on another census as well with bridget but she also lodged with patrick on the census as well.... she a widow but i wondered if she was related in a way also who she might have
married..she came from ireland with them by the looks of things...umm plot thickens..... thanks so much for your help as wellx:-)x

Eringobragh1916 Report 8 Dec 2009 15:57

Elaine...Have you located Patrick Salmon on the 1871 Census ? I dont have access to it..also where did John Timlin.go to after 1871..? I cannot locate him 1881...?
It is difficult to trawl through the Parish Records for Salmon (Patrick) parent of John b.abt 1857...as these are not indexed ..they are from the actual Church Records and you also have to know exactly where the children were born...it doesnt follow it was Westport Town.....
How do you know Brid was born abt 1838..and married John Timlin...????

hi me again erin...
yer i see what you mean trying to confuse you with what you have found..big gap between children ....see later on bridget married john) timlin they had a few children who died years after each other so did himself.. leaving bridget a widow.
they seem to be together as neighbours and living in each other houses at the time..too, Patrick her father spread himself by the sounds of itbridget left home after 1851 when the came to england.. patrick left ireland to escape for better life i presume with children..nice to no im
trying to get a picture of them ..thanks to your help..very much appreciated...

morning ErinGobragh1916
Once again thankyou so much for helping me with Salmon & timlin ..saga ive made a note of the infor you have found fo the last section for marriage of patrick is still a mystery for me, like you said he might have been married in another parish..i see what you mean with the dates i wondered if he married twice maybe.. with first daughter having aquite a few years between next sibling...it just makes me wonder as they were in ireland when ,the potato famin, was then,, they possibly moved to england with his first wife died over there.. in tow with children ...i notice a carthryin flyn is on 1881 census with them she seem to have come with them probably a friend...???umm interesting..

Eringobragh1916 Report 2 Dec 2009 21:29

Elaine...I have had look through my Westport records and these are the only Salmon marriages I have been able to locate so far relative to the birth date of Bridget (1838) .All RC.

Jan. 20. 1833 John Salmon to Anne McGloughlan
Feb.26. 1838 Peter Salmon to Mary Reilly
Feb 22 1841 Patrick Salmon to Margaret Salmon.

Given we dont yet know Patricks wife (Marys mothers name) the above are just for ref.
Patrick may well have married in the another parish....

Elaine....Forgot to add Timlin is a Co.Mayo surname....

Eringobragh1916

Eringobragh1916 Report 2 Dec 2009 18:14

Evening Elaine....
Thank you for the info.
I imagine that the age given as 60yrs for Patrick may be a little bit out given Brid was born 1838..(he would only be about 17/18 at the time)...No matter will look at that later....If Brid was the eldest then there are def.other children as John (1881) is only 24yrs so born abt 1857ish....big gap between 1838 and 1857.....
The John Timling (lodger) aged 16yrs is probably the son of Brid.and John Timlin...grandson to Patrick.
