Can't see an Alfred matching those details

Have you looked on freebmd for a birth? Or on the FREE 1881 census

It's on www.familysearch.org

Which of Alfred's children is your grandparent? Have you worked backwards - generation by generation?

How do you know that Alfred's father was born so early? What documents do you have naming his father as Thomas?

Thomas would be my g. gt. grandfather.I don't know the date of their marriage i'm afraid, they had one son that i know of called Alfred, born c1880 - who was my great grandfather on my fathers side - who i remember as a child.
They lived in Crewe, Cheshire.
I was given some recent interesting information, that comes from this side of the family

If you refer to living relations, try looking in search trees - just above the board - to find out whether anyone else is researching these people.

When did the marriage take place? Were there any children?

Without Jane's maiden name, searching will be far from easy.

Where was Thomas born? How does he fit into your family tree?

Hi I'm trying to find any relations to Thomas Downs who was born c 1928, this is my first posting so i hope this is the right place. He was married to Jane (don't know her surname) and lived in Crewe, cheshire.
If this rings any bells, i'd be glad to hear from you to share more
