OMG - this is one of those embarrassing ones - yes, Belle you are quite right. Emma WAS indeed a Carter - as you said, the illegitimate daughter of Frances - although she was always known as "Oddy" on census returns so that is what she is listed as on my tree and I had TOTALLY forgotten (it's a long time since I last researched her ...). Congratulations on your detective skills!!

Feel SUCH a fool ...

Yes, that's the George I've got too, Tracey.

BTW sorry if my replies get a bit patchy over the next hour or so - my hubby wants to use the computer for a bit so I will be having to dip in and out (what a nerve!!).

Have also contacted Ancestry re their omission!

Sorry guys - took a short break to eat and wash up! Now, George was indeed George W Taylor (b Bradford Moor 1859) and that marriage that you found earlier looks interesting ,Tracey. So if that IS our Emma she married a Mr Carter sometime between 1891 (when she was single on the elusive census) and, say, 1899.

WayneTracey

WayneTracey Report 3 Jan 2010 17:39

Unless i'm mistaken we still do not have a marriage yet?

What do we know about George?

To be honest just recently i've taken to using FMP for census searching, it's cleaner and faster.....

I searched through the district after nothing came up with the ref and got..bog all!

I think they've missed it off all together, it might be worth sending them an email with the copy that Tracey found on FMP

Tracey - you're not the only one - I have used your reference for where Emma and Beatrice appear, and I have also tried searching the Oates family, but STILL nothing is coming up on Ancestry. It only shows 26 pages of District 12 ... am I going mad or do I need to demand a refund on my membership??

Gee

Gee Report 3 Jan 2010 16:40

Ive just had a look on Ancestry and I cant find them on 91 census no matter what combination I enter

I wonder if the transcription was missed for this one?
