Thank you all. Think I need to seriously reconsider my Ancestry membership as it STILL isn't coming up with a match. Will use the reference provided instead!!

They both appear at the same address in Bradford, sorry, I don't a subscription to look at the record but if you go onto findmypast.co.uk you should find them. Use advanced search, Emma is down as born 1958 and Beatrice 1890.
Sorry, should have said, on the 1891 census.

No - the only way I discovered where Emma had gone was that George Taylor was the witness to Emma's illiterate mother's cross in the signature space on the 1911 census return. I then searched George to find out who he was and discovered he was married to Emma. Or at least he SAYS he is!! He states their length of marriage as 11 full years, making a probable date of 1899 or 1900.

I'm struggling to find a marriage for an Emma Oddy & George Taylor.

Do you have the marriage details?

EDIT::

Ahhhh,

Yes that's Beatrice. They state on on census returns that her place of birth is Dudley Hill (part of Bradford).

On 1911 and 1901 censuses Emma Oddy (b Pudsey 1858) is married to George Taylor, and Beatrice Oddy (b Apr-Jun 1889) is shown as his stepdaughter. From this I assume that Beatrice is Emma's illegitimate daughter.

I have Emma Oddy with her parents on the 1861, 1871 and 1881 censuses ... but on 1891 can find neither Emma nor Beatrice.

Can anyone with fresh eyes find them or alternatively suggest where they might have been hiding? I am loth to spend any money on certificates as this is a bit of a distant relative, but hate leaving mysteries unsolved!!
