Do you have the marriage cert for John Boddy and Mary Lavery as you said her name could be Lavery or Conley which is very confusing.

because of the misspelt surname on some of the birth certs of their children, she is registered as lavery on the marraige but on the birth certs she is dowm as lahey. but have been told by family members she was a conley which i also have record from the ancestry records. it is really confusing.

Hi Vanessa,

Can you explain what you mean that you have a record from the Ancestry records that her name was Conley?

If you have the marriage cert what is her father's name and occupation?

Christine

on the the marraige cert he is down as peter lavey, general labourer. he lived at 35 queen mary street.
mary is down as mary lavey 23 in 1902 when they married
john boddy 23 also
hope this helps.

It is confusing isn't it.

The family are Conley in 1881 but how did they become Lavey and where are Francis and Mary who are down as Boddy in 1911.

I wondered if this could be the birth reg but there is no Mary on the same page and it appears from 1911 that they were twims.

im just confused because like you said why are they registered as lavey on the marraige cert mmmmm. thats why my aunty said they were connoly. so going by the address mary lavey who married my grandad john boddy was connoly but went by a different name when she got married
the part where she was born in sunderland is right and all the first names are right. and so the mystery continues!!!

Vanessa

Vanessa Report 26 Jan 2010 11:30

now, if my grandad francis boddy and his twin siater mary were born in 1900 like ive been told and there is no record of their birth. then in theory they should of been living with mary conley in 1901 with her parents peter and bridget, because she didnt marry john boddy till 1902.

thats too much of a coinsidence!!! its got to be?
can u do me a favour please. by looking on the certs ive noticed a match with a surname that appears too often. im thinking that maybe mary conley/lavey maried before and had francis and mary (twins) out of wedlock or with anothre person??
the people who appear on the certs regually are martin joseph o'brien and thomas o'brien. could you check the 1901 cencus to see if maybe francis and mary were living with an o'brien in case they had a different dad??
thankyou

MaureeninNY

MaureeninNY Report 26 Jan 2010 13:49

Sorry,I'm not seeing anything.
Confused again, though. Where do the O'Brien names appear? On christening records or something?

Maureen

Vanessa Report 26 Jan 2010 13:55

ive just looked on the tees valley indexes to see if a mary conley married before she married john boddy and it said a mary conley married a thomas o'brien in 1898. then on my grandads marraige cert francis boddy who we cant find the birth cert to. there is a witness called martin joseph o'brien.
