Hi Florence,
Yes I am coming to learn that sometimes ages have to be taken with a pinch of salt. My Grandmothers birth cert. states her name clearly as Doris Olive as I thought from the death record it could have been an O,B or C. Her husband registered the birth but I can't imagine he would have gotten her name wrong, would he??!!
I know Doris' Mother was called Margaret and was born in 1883 as she died in 1983 aged 100. Doris was one of an estimted 16 children which gives a large number of years in which she could have been born without an accurate age. I guess I will need her marriage cert. this should answer some more details with added accuracy.
Thanks for helping!

Do you know when Margaret the mother of Doris married and to whom.

Apologies, I received my Grandmothers birth cert. today which states her Mother (my GGrandmother)as Doris Olive Peacock(Morgan) as so far I have found Doris' marriage and death but as I had no other information there are too many 'Doris Morgan's' to find her just on that information. I wasn't sure if I was reding the death entry right or not and thought with a middle name it would be easier. I don't yet have the marriage certificate, was hoping to find the birth without it in hand first. Thanks for having a look for me.

If this is her marriage

Name: Doris O Morgan
Spouse Surname: Peacock
Date of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec 1928
Registration district: Rochford
Registration county (inferred): Essex
Volume Number: 4a
Page Number: 1575

that certificate will give you her father's name (hopefully), and then you'd have a better chance of finding her in the 1911.

Lorna, can you just clarify a bit? --

"Howeevr I received my Grandmothers **birth Cert.** today and it clearly states her name as Doris Olive Peacock nee Morgan"

Not her birth certificate, I think -- her marriage certificate, or her death certificate?

Thank you very much. That at least cancels that one for me. Shame Morgan is such a popular name!!

Good afternoon. I am confused over what I read on my GGrandmother's death entry in the records.

Peacock Doris O Rochford 4a 873/8? Dec 1968 Aged 59?

The writing is very feint but I have tried to compare it to other letters/numbers around it and made out the details above. Howeevr I received my Grandmothers birth Cert. today and it clearly states her name as Doris Olive Peacock nee Morgan. When I look for her birth the only match I can get is a birth in Neath in 1901. This obviously doesn't match up with her age at time of death. I know her Mother was called Margaret so if anybody has access to the 1911 census it would be great if they could see if the 1901 birth lived with a Margaret.
I hope this all makes sense and any help will be gratefully received.
Thanks in advance, Lorna.
