Hi again,

Not really back yet but came for a little peep!

Looked at that link and yes, as batman'sdaughter says, it does indeed say stone Quarrier which is not a great distance away from a stone mason so is possible.

However, I really think you may be onto something here - no Susannah, BUT there is a daughter 'Hannah' which could well be a nickname - a shortening of Susannah??? She is born around the right time!!

Needs looking into - Will be back soon.

Jacky,

that census states stone Quarrier.

Dea Report 24 Feb 2010 14:29

Don't give up yet!!!

There are lots of things to follow!

You say she was buried in Leeds - is there a headstone? Was it a 'family grave'?

Also - we know her father was John Walker and we know he was a Mason! - He may have been 'deceased' at the time of her marriage - It does not always say so on the cert!!

We therefore have to look at earlier census's perhaps, rather than later ones?

Have to go off for a few minutes - husband is 'starving' !! - Will come back soon.

hi dea
sorry i know i,m a pain but would you look at the link below & see if it says stone something (for john walker with wife nancy ) the reason i have looked at this is cos it the right area for the marrige woodhouse/meanwood (st marks ) & joseph may lived at other side of the city was it normal to get married in the brides parish she may have been transcibed as hannah on this census
or do you think i,m just cluching at straws

Don't rely on info from a death certificate. Sometimes it's not even a family member who registers the death. My gt. grandfather's death certicicate told me nothing other than what he died from. It was registered by someone who worked for him.

Dea

Dea Report 24 Feb 2010 14:20

It would not name her parents, unless one of them was the informant on her death cert - then that one would be mentioned.

Sorry,
