So you knew all that William? It really does help if you tell people what you already know, to save people spending time looking for guesses.

The 1901 census is a bit out of line re the couple's ages, but right occupation and Chorlton/Didsbury/Withington/Rusholme are all much of a muchness, being suburbs on the outskirts of Manchester towards Cheshire, mostly merged into one area.

The marriage in 1879 is in Chorley, not the same area, not really Manchester, though the ages fit with the 1881 census. Oh, it isn't William's Emily if her father is Pollard.

No luck yet with a marriage of Emily Slinger.

Hello Christine from Portugal,Quinsgran and Julcoe,Thank you all so much for trying to help me.I have seen the census and the earliest I have been able to turn up anything is 1881 census where Joseph and Emily are at 2 St,Johns Ave.The Birth.Cert of Joseph Cecil II has his parents as Joseph Cecil(artist) and Emily Slinger.The census show that Joseph (one) was born lancashire and Emily b. Scarborough.
