ok so if elizabeths maiden name was rickard then the entry in the census showing jenny rickard widow living with grandaughter admonition age 9 years must bet related to elizabeth brock nee rickard married to william mother of 4 boys who live next door, next question who is admonitions parents and where did she go after that entry in the census? and how is she related to elizabeth and william im still searching...

Those records are submitted and need to be treated with caution.

There is also another very likely marrige for William and Elizabeth on Freebmd in 1941.

Achilds birth cert really needs to be obtained for concrete proof of mothers maiden name and then you can find the correct marriage for them.

Here and here only is the official Gov site

http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/

Other sites will rip you off.

£7 with the refs that have been given for any of the children.
Richard the eldest ones in 1846 seems the best bet to me.

Where the form asks if the GRO refs are known, tick the "yes "box

Admonition Carpenter Brock baptised Torpoint 25th July 1852 daughter of William John Bastard and Elizabeth Edgecumbe Rickard Brock. The Cornish Online Parish Clerks website has this baptism and others belonging to the same couple. Addie's married name was Hoskin/Hosking and she was my great grandmothers best friend. After they were both widowed they shared a house together in Fore Street Torpoint.
Hope this helps

wow, i thought elizabeth nee rickard married william brock and they had 4 boys , i wonder how these people are connected and why would addie live next door to her mother with her grandmother jenny rickard, and where did john bastard come from, maybe a first hubby before william brock? thanks for this puzzle piece. i will keep digging

Sorry I hadnt answered before but I'm in Australia and the time difference gets in the way sometimes!

I'm afraid I've confused you. William's full name was William John Bastard Brock so its the same family. My 4 times great grandmother was Mary Bastard, possibly an aunt or great aunt of William.

Besides the 4 boys you have details of there were 2 girls (Addie and Jane Ann who was baptised 16th July 1848) and another William Henry baptised 8th February 1855, presumably died young.

Jane Ann Brock aged 2 is living with Jenny Rickard in 1851 so perhaps the girls were just visiting their grandmother on the respective census nights and not actually living with her.

Addie Brock's husband John Hosking was a masons labourer so perhaps he worked for William Brock.

I'll dig up some more details if you like
