jansmith - that's brilliant!

Just Ellen to find now.

It does look as though Ellen and Richard separated then.

I had tried all spellings of Lovett/Lovell and Lov*

Thanks again!!!

I had another look at the image and I think you're right Choccy.

It seems that someone assumed that the family belonged to the Griffin's. It does say 'Head' in the relation column for Samuel.

I agree, Florence does seem to be the bride.

On looking at the 1891 census again, I think Samuel Higgins and his sister Ellen Lovett are living next door to the Griffins and are actually not related at all.

Penny Report 26 Feb 2010 12:27

Reply before last - Richard Lovatt

his birth? whose birth? the Richard that married Ellen Harriet Higgins and died 1904?

Cant see mention of more than one Richard

* Confused* got it - its a son of Ricard Snr & Ellen Nee Higgins

Yes that is Richard's birth.

I have found Philip and Ann Higgins in 1901 in Fleet Hampshire.

A clue on the page; at the top is a widow Ellen Higgins aged 65 with step son Harry aged 38.

Not sure yet how they fit in but I will save this page and look round the neighbourhood later on.

Thanks for your help, everyone.

I must move about; I'm frozen hear!

Thanks again Choccy.

Yes, that does look like one of the sons.

I will have a look for Richard. I can't find him in 1901 either!

Wildgoose Report 26 Feb 2010 11:36

Thanks Choccy!

Philip and Ann are not Samuel and Ellen's parents. I will have to work out who they are.

Sorry Minnie! Just to clarify things. She married for the second time in Northampton to Walter Ellis.

Walter was in the army barracks in Hampshire in 1901, single.

I think he met Ellen there at some point and they came to Walter's home town to marry.

Wildgoose

Wildgoose Report 26 Feb 2010 10:59

I have both Ellen and Walter Ellis in 1911. He is staying in Northampton with his parents, she is home in Aldershot with daughter Evelyn.

I have finally found the 1891 image of Ellen. She is living in Fleet Hampshire with her brother Samuel and sons Richard 4 and George 1.

I'll print a copy off so I don't lose it again.

Penny

Penny Report 26 Feb 2010 10:54

what do you know about mr Ellis? can they be spotted on 1911 which might give clues to 1901
