Good Morning Erin & Dea,

Firstly Dea that death looks right so that rules the birth out ,it was questionable. Leads me back to think the Irish birth place must be right.

Erin, James Foran aged 8 appears in an institute in Liverpool Stated as Born Ireland, assuming they are correct about his birth place, therefore he must have arrived at some point before 1871 census was taken. Would a child travel alone or would he be with relatives/parents? There are not many James Foran's on census for when he was adult. This has lead back to Manchester so can only assume he arrived in Liverpool docks then found family in Manchester as there were a number of Foran families there.

I'm not sure where to look next for any more info. I think i'm confusing myself now!!

Out of curiosity I had a look at your previous thread regarding James.

I am not sure why we are looking at this one in the Institution - Isn't this 'your' James on 1871: ??

As he was a Tailor, like his father, and born in London on both census, it seems likely that this is the same James.

Yes that would be him, I looked for that with the different spelling aswell but couldn't find that one. I had found the marriage but wasn't certain but that absolutely must be him, so they travelled from Ireland to London/South Coast by the looks of it then headed to Manchester. I can't believe I missed it!

Well done Dea that has answered who his parents are and gives more siblings etc.

Now i need to find where in Ireland the parents came from!!

Oh well I am offt o the Dentist, got agonising tooth ache.

Thank you very much Ladies for all the detective work. It is very much appreciated.

Owww's your toothache Lorna (tee hee) ?

I hope he didn't pull them all out?

I thought I had toothache a few weeks ago but it turned out to be trigeminal neuralgia - If you know about this you really know what 'agonising' pain is !!

Hope you have it sorted!

Hi Dea,

Dentist went as well as can be expected! Had the nerve removed, got the taste of cloves in my mouth now until next week when I get root filled or something like that. I couldn't get out of there quick enough so wasn't really listening!!

Oh how I love the dentist.....
