the village is called Dinas Powys - always has been called that - nothing to do with Dinas or Powys!!! they are entirely separate places

Dinas POwys is about two or three miles outside Cardiff city centre

Ok, had a look at my sheet, Dinas comes under the reg district of Cardigan 1837 to 1935.

According to FreeBMD Powys was not a reg district in it's own right til 1974.

So where would Dinas have been listed before 1974?

there are a few Hawkins in Dinas Powys in the current Cardiff telephone directory

Dinas Powys is almost a suburb of Cardiff - nothing to do with Dinas near Pontypridd and Bridgend is too far away
