I am reviewing my tree and once more my dear father William Farady has not moved on in my tree. The last person to add was Kay who was spot on with Williams parents as we're others but. How do I find the marriage of William Farady and his wife Margaret Farady nee O'Sullivan.

I married a Sullivan...wouldn't it be strange if ther are related to Margaret?

Hope someone reads this and be able to help

Pam

many thanks for your message and I shall most definetley look at the census for 1901 sometime today. Of course I will let you know the outcome.

I have looked at the roots site before but not for Wicklow. another useful point I have learnt is that a number of the Farady families from Wicklow used to go to Wales, so may find something there as well.

Spain 08.00hrs :-)

Hi SpanishEyes,

Have a look at the Irish census 1901

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie

There is a William Fardy ((50) in Wexford, wife Margaret.

Edit - Another useful site is

Recently I left a message on Ancestry re William Fardy and was informed that most Faradys were in Wicklow. I wonder now if anyone can look at Wicklow records to see if their are any William Farady's around 1850 t0 1912. Also any Margaret O'Sullivans

Thank you
Bridget :-)

Good morning Patrick and evryone else who has helped.
I knew that the name Glasnevin should mean something and low and behold at about 03.00hrs I woke thinking "you silly woman Glasnevein is where you took your fathers, ashes to be interred"! I have a photo of his name engraved on a stone in the area where those who have been cremated are.
No I haven't tried finding them on the 1911 UK census so I guess that will have to be my next move.
As for the two Farady families in Ireland that you mention I will try to find them. Can you recall where the two people were in the Irish 1911 census?

I am away this weekend celebrating birthdays with my sister so will pick up emails etc but will not have time to do research as we are preparing and having a BIG celebration. Younger sister 60 on Saturday and I will be 64 on same day...

Once again thank you.

Just one other point do you know how I can trace Irish adoptions?

Bye for now

Kay

How did you find this,I am thrilled to bits as when I have looked I have only ever found Margaret O'Sullivan and no clue that she was married.
I wonder why they left him with Foster/adopted parents?

I can go back to my tree now and add this information. So now I have to try to find out what happend to Margaret and William senior.

Thanks again and if anyone has any suggestions I would be most greatful to read them....just one other question is Ignatious Road in Dublin or in Finglas?

Kay

Kay Report 2 Jun 2010 15:20

Hello again Bridget
Regarding the 1912 birth for William Farady, in Dublin today, had a look.
This William Farady was born 12th October 1912, Rotunda Maternity Hospital
Father: William Farady, Ignatius Road. Labourer
Mother: Margaret Farady, formerly O'Sullivan

Does this help, or confuse???

SpanishEyes Report 1 Jun 2010 20:24

I know that over time I have posted several messages on here about William Farady. So some people may be asking why I am still asking for help. well, I am 64 on Sunday and My sister is 60 and I promised her that I would concentrate on finding more about him. So that is why I am back .Now we have been wondering if he chose another name when he came to the UK for political reasons..........
He was active in politics in the UK and we went to Ireland every year until I was about 12years old, maybe a little older.
The strange thing is that wehenver we went to Finglas we bacame the Kegan family,,,we wonder why we never asked about it

So I am going to change his name on my tree to see if we can find the Keegans and maybe they have information.
Also does anyone know how or where I look for adoption or fostering information in Ireland.

Thank you for reading this

Also I recently deleted a reply from someone by mistake so if it is anyone reads this on who has contacted me recently I am very sorry.

Hello Bridget

A stab in the dark!!

Have a look at the 1911 Irish Census www.census.nationalarchives.ie(free to view)
There are many many Keegan's in Dublin, but not too many in Finglas.
Scroll through the pages to find them.

Now look at house No.101.3 Finglas Town
You will see a Thomas Keegan and wife Ellen
And the household includes:
James Cummings, 8yrs old, Step Son
John Francis Howard, 4yrs old, Adopted Son

So...........maybe they adopted your William when he was born the following year???

Finglas in those days was just a lovely country village.

Yes this is him and matches family info according to one of my sisters.
Now I have to try again to find his parents, my father never managed o find them and we keep looking.Any ideas, thoughts etc would be most welcome.I have had help from others on GR but nothing ever materialises/
How can I find who was living in Fingla Dublin from 1912 onwards as this is where he was brought up. However in true Irish manner he was given the name of the people who cared for him so became Thomas Keegan...are you as confused as we are/
Thanks for your help

Family info gave me the names of 3 of 5 children. Two David's one who emigraded and I have found him on the Ellis island site. One who died and I have found his death details. And the other was my G.Grandfather and I have a fair bit of info on him and fair amount of photos.
I have details of a Mary treacy marrying someone. (Who ever) And last night a cousin I have found has sent me details of 2 more of the children from a church register. They are older than David so It looks like this Mary Treacy getting married in 1859 Might be mine.
But as you say David I have nothing to lose
Thank you very much for your time and effort , I will let you know how I get on
Regards lesley

Elliot Report 6 Apr 2010 19:39

How do you know that they had 3 children between 1864 and 1874?

Yes I think so. There can't be many Denis Duhig's so hopefully they should be able to help. You've got nothing to lose by having a go anyway!

The first child was born in 1865, so it should be within two years of that.
