Flick

Flick Report 21 Apr 2010 23:29

They are supposed to have moved to Devon following the father/husband leaving the Army

Flick

Flick Report 21 Apr 2010 23:30

When did Joan die?

Did the person registering her death know when she was born?

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 21 Apr 2010 23:31

If he was military, they may have lived in Dover when the kids were young, between 1917 and 1923 births.

My grandparents lived briefly in Dover after WWI, right around that time, because of him being in the Dragoon Guard or something.

The names certainly match up for those births. The GRO index does say Bright for the 1885 Clara Maud birth, but it could be a mistranscription from the certificate.

Yup, we need some feedback. Things like

- do the ages of the Hannaford-Blight children match up with the ages of Joan's siblings?

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 21 Apr 2010 23:34

Well, it's Bright in 1891 for that one so it's not looking strong ...

Name: Clara M Bright
Age: 6
Estimated birth year: abt 1885
Relation: Daughter
Father's Name: Richard
Where born: Plymouth, Devon, England

Civil parish: St Andrew

Richard Bright 31 - general labourer
Mary J Bright 29
Lilly B Bright 9
Rosa Bright 5
Clara M Bright 6
Elsie Bright 4
William R Bright 2

... but that one seems neither to marry nor to die ...

Here are those ones in 1901 in Plymouth St Andrew:

Mary J Bright 39
Rosa Bright 18
Maud Bright 16
Elsie Bright 14
Stanley Bright 8
William Bright 7

Gordon does say c1920 for Joans birth Flick,so may not be sure if she died when he was young?

Janey..
Only Joans mmn on ref seems to be mistranscribed or entered wrong ,all others are Bright,so why is 1891 Clara census not good?

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 21 Apr 2010 23:43

Oh, what? Der.

But -- the marriage I found is BLIGHT.

I think it's quite possible Clara wasn't literate and pronunciation varied.

1911

BLIGHT CLARA 1881 30 Plymouth Devonshire
BLIGHT ELIZABETH M 1878 33 Plymouth

Hmmmmmm.

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 21 Apr 2010 23:47

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 21 Apr 2010 23:51

Does the 1911 info for Clara in my post above match up with

Births Mar 1881
BLIGHT Clara Truro 5c 141

?

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 21 Apr 2010 23:58

So that's not Clara Maud Bright in the 1911, it's Clara Bright from Truro born 1881, and demmed if I can find Clara Maud Bright born Plymouth 1885.

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 22 Apr 2010 00:00

Nor me.,,died?Or living with Mr Hannaford before marrying,,,
Hmm

Edit
Not under Hannaford either..

Joans birth cert is needed I think,to be sure of her parents names and then their marriage.?

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 22 Apr 2010 00:03

Hmmmmm. Searching for Clara born in Plymouth 1884-1886 ... and recalling that she was called Maud in 1901 thus likely to keep using that name ...

SAUNDERS CLARA MAUD 1885 26 Plymouth Devonshire
living with
SAUNDERS LESLIE 1911 1 MONTH

the only other Saunders in the household.

No CMS birth to match, and no marriage of a CM to a Saunders that seems likely ...

And no birth I can find for young Leslie.
