By searching for free I have just found that the marriage between James

McKenzie and Mary Gracie McGregor in 1897 was in St Giles in Edinburgh

City ......so if you have a bit of patience and time it shouldn't cost you too much.

It's a brilliant site but I should have shares in it with all the money I've

spent on there!

Hi Terry,

If you type in James McKenzie and Mary Gracie McGregor and 1897 it comes up with a match.

The tip is to to put in a wider search and then narrow it down as far as you can before using your credits.

Hope that helps,
Kind regards,
Cathy

Message from Terry.

Thanks very much for the info. it looks promising. I didn't put in my request for help that Helen's middle name was Thompson.
I looked up Grace and found that a Mary Grace H MacGregor was born in Mar 1873 in Dartford, Kent. Would this by chance match the weddind that you found. Thanks once again.

You will need to reg with Scotlands people and buy credits to have a look for yourself at the entry as it is a pay per view site only and I am right out of credits.

You can search for free though.

www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

But it does come up with Mary G Mcgregor marrying James Mckenzie in 1897.
But only a look at it would help to see if it is yours.

You can also find the childrens births on there and as said it will give the date and place of the parents marriage.

There is one match on SP for a James Mckenzie marrying a McGregor in 1897,which would match with the amount of time married on 1911.

But it wont come up with the name Grace.

If that is the correct family in 1901 that FBG has posted then Helen's birth certificate from scotlandspeople will give you the date and place of James and Grace's marriage.

To track James back his marriage will be needed for parents details, there are a few that could be him on 1891.
