Morning Mel - thank you again for all the help you offered me yesterday. Its really helped. Please let me know if I can ever do anything for you. I also found the deaths for Martha and John.

Yes Mary, these children are the same as I have, the dates match the ones that I have too. Rootsweb is part of Ancestry isnt it?

This is also useful - and intersting in that I have James and Sarah, just 1 Rebecca and no Joseph at all.

I will have to look into this - see if they died perhaps?

Thanks Mel x

When you look on IGI familysearch.org if a record is Submitted it means that someone has submitted the record. If it is Extracted it is taken from the Bishops Transcripts and can be beleived.

Mel - thankyou so much for this - it makes a lot of sense with what I already have. Re your comment about batch numbers - do you mean that if the entry has a batch number, its reliable and if its doesnt then its to be treated with caution?

Mary - talk about coincidence - you can see in my earlier post that I had found the church where my 3xg grandmother married - its actually Pisgah Baptist Church in Pisgah Road, Talywain.

I wonder if this Israel is John's brother? Their father was israel also, but was born much earlier and married to a Hannah.

This is the3 Mary Pascoe on the 1841 census I put up earlier and her siblings, well some of them!
This is from LDS but it has batch numbers so should be right.

Mel - whereabouts is the census taken? Is it Pontypool itself? Or could it be either Abersychan, Talywain, Garndiffaith or something else? I might be able to find the correct Albion Terrace then (sounds like a soap opera!)

Anne - I concur, and I think, going back to my original post, that the Scotland connection is phoney and that John WAS born in the West country. I know this isnt an exact science but sometimes the red herrings really get in the way!

Thank you everyone for your help, I really appreciate it xx

I'm seeing a shedload of Pascoe's on the census but not one in Scotland - the vast majority from the West country
