That's the million dollar question, isn't it!

I have a feeling that Elizabeth Wright may be Mary Hidden's sister. Finding a marriage to Henry Wright isn't easy!
What was Mary's maiden name? Have you found the marriage certificate for her and James?

Hi Gayle,
Well,my thinking was that she dropped the Harriet somewhere along the line! I don't see another likely birth in the area.
You can order certificates from:

How would I go about doing that do you know?
Thanks for the speedy reply, much appreciated.
I'm wondering whether Mary is her mum and whether thats her first name or a middle name like Harriet Elizabeth is known by her middle name not her forename?

MaureeninNY

MaureeninNY Report 4 Jun 2010 17:17

I think you're going to have to buy the birth certificate for that!

Thankyou very much for the reply, would it be possible to find Harriet (bess) Elizabeth Hiddens birth certificate with her parents names signed on there by any chance as that would be extremely helpful in discovering if her mum was actually Mary who married James and became the Hiddens.

Hi Gayle,
"Bessie" is a nickname for Elizabeth. So the 1888/9 "Bessie" married Walter Try.
I could be wrong, but I have a feeling she was actually born as:
Name: Harriet Elizabeth Hidden
Year of Registration: 1888
Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec
District: Upton Upon Severn
County: Worcestershire
Volume: 6c
Page: 303

HTH,
Maureen

Oh! That's interesting. It looks as though "Bessie" was unofficially adopted by the Wrights. Henry Wright was one of the witnesses at her marriage to Walter Try.
