The only reason why I asked whether you had got George Louis' birth certificate is that the 1901 census states that George Snr was born in Tunbridge Wells Kent not Middlesex or Essex

Yes, Maureen that's what I was looking at. Think a birth certificate for George Louis is needed before going further back....just in case his parents aren't George & Emily!

EDIT : Now can see how Patricia has got to George & Emily as parents. Especially as Emily's father was called Lowies Sharpe

Well there's something odd going on. Is this Martha? And why is she here??

This was my grandfather George Louis he was in the Royal House Artillery. The only photograph of him was in his full dress uniform. I am pretty sure everything is correct including George Edward and Emily Sharpe. I think the info'Jax and Mary gave me could seriously be the rest of the family going back to 1806. I have to go out for the rest of today but will check more details on the cenus's tomorrow.
Thanks again for the help.

So if we are going with George being born in Tonbridge 1866 and with grandparents in Tonbridge 1871 and with them a Frederick 1850 so he would have only been @ 16 when George was born!!!!!!!!

1881 District 6 Tonbridge
George 1822 Railway Labourer
Elizabeth 1815
Henry Foster son in law
CLARA daughter 1854
George 15 + 1866 now says son,but he isn't,their son George was born 1844.

1891 D5 image 37 George Mason 1813 Railway Labourer Widow living on his own.

I'am now thinking the other George etc which I posted was in fact the wrong one.

I guess my thinking was that the T'bridge George was quite possibly the son of one of the unmarried daughters (Martha??) and just put down good old Uncle Fred as his father on the marriage cert to save face.

I was trying to check out the other George (son of Fred and Hannah) to see if I could find him post 1871,but not having much luck. He seems to be a witness on brother Frank's marriage to Jane Pearl in 1888. Could someone who has access maybe see if they think the signature for George on his marriage to Emily Sharpe matches up to the one where he's a witness? (did that make sense??)

I really am leaning towards the T'bridge fellow, but not 100% certain.
