Hi Jan,
Florences mother is marked as Lucy May and William as her father.This is from her grave as it states here lies Lucy May and her daughter Florence. I did wonder as they didn't marry till 1899 if Florence was despatched to a relative for a while as she would have been born in september 1899.

This could perhaps be one child on birth indexes in 1901

I have sheilas birth cert and it states Florence is her mother

And you know for certain that Sheila was the daughter of Florence?
Do you have her birth certificate at all or her marriage certificate.
Just need confirmation that we are on the right track.

That marriage date means that they either married just after or just before the birth of Florence May, is that why she's not on the census, was she raised by someone else to escape the stigma of an illegitimate child ..

Can you tell us how this leads to you. What relation are you to the Walters?

I sent you the marriage details yesterday Lynette and said she was Taylor before she married in reply to your mail about trying to get the certificate but you needed the maiden name.

I know that her mom Lucy is buried with Florence . I know the name of her brother is William and that they are living at 8 st mathews road when Lucy died in 1925 and this links with the 1911 census. I have not been able to find out when they married as I do not have Lucy May's maiden name, how did you find they married at 1899

Are you sure that they are the correct family?
They didn't marry until 1899.

Have found that William Walters was the one who paid for the buriel plot for Lucy may, George and Florence.He was living at 8 St Mathews road, so that ties in with the first post from Astra. I have been able to narrow down the births of the chidren as William 1901, Charles as 1902,this means that the birth reg on 1899 is very likely going to be the one for Florence May. I thought it was all sorted then I found the 1901 census for the family (very easy now I know where William was born) and Florence is not there !! You have William, May( Lucy has been dropped form the name) and William aged 5 weeks but no Florence who should be 1-2years,anyone got any ideas ?
Also on another note if anyone does look at the census for William he was born in Blakeney Gloucester, but can you tell me where they live, it looks like Belgrave something but I don't know if its road,court or house...Thanyou

you need to get the marriage cert for more details of him but there is an error as to the volume number so it would need checking ,i am not sure which one it is for that area

You have made me smile! BERN is from the original image It looks as though William or Lucy when they filled in the form started to put Birmingham and then put Smethwick. So when it has been transcribed they have read it as Bern for some reason. If you PM me your E mail address I can send you the original image.
I thought the birth registration I posted above was the correct one and then I found this which means that her names have been reversed on the census. Kings Norton is the registration district for Smethwick.

This one looks more likely because the December quarter registration could cover a September birth.

thats what i was trying to trace, her birt is down as 1901 on the 1911 census, as kindly posted by Astra,but i can't find a registry entry for it.I am going to get the birth certificate today but need to trace the birthdate as its completely different to the the one on her death certificate :}
With the birth on the 1st reply it says on the census

Is BERN where she was born , as the birth found says she was born in WALSAll, oh I'm confused ..??
