I know my grandad lied about the yr of birth he always said 25/12/1896 we remember celebrating his birthday on xmas day and on his mariage certificate his fathers name was John he and Albert were both in the Army

yes his Father John and himself were both in the army and Albert was my fathers dad my father was Frederick John Rapson Shaw born in India in 1923

Perhaps Albert was born overseas - with his father a serving soldier, it's entirely possible

yes this was his death the problem is i have no birth just know from his marriage certificate that his father was a soldier and his name was John

no that was not his marriage I know when he married I even cellebrated there 50th wedding anniversary he died two years after in 1970

Fathers' names on marriage certs are not always to be relied on - being illegitimate was considered shameful, so fathers were sometimes invented

no not really I beleave he did but dont really know we were told that his mother may have been German and not a good sort apparently
