Find Ancestors

Hi, I'm trying to find my great x4 grandparents who I believe are from Leicestershire.

Thomas Hallford/Halford and Ann Hargraves got married in 1822 and had a son, George in 1841.

Any information about them or the birth/ death dates etc for Thomas and Ann would be greatly appreciated please and also any details of their other children if they had any.

As far as I'm aware, George was born in Castle Donnington, however I have not been able to find a birth certificate.

Yes, he married Priscilla Bishop in 1865.

As for the dates, I know it seems like a long time between Thomas and Ann's marriage and the birth of George. My only conlucion for that can be that they had more children before George?

Also, I don't know if this will help, but George was a boatman, as were many of his sons so I would imagine his father, Thomas also worked on the barges...

Does his father's name come from George's marriage certificate?
It's just that I have been checking other trees on Ancestry and they all have his father as George.

Well I actually got the information from a family group sheet sent by a correspondant. It just lists George's parents as Thomas Hallford and Ann Hargraves.

Unfortunately there is no other information about his parents...

The problem is I can't find a marriage to Priscilla Bishop in 1865. Have you found details of their marriage.
If that is them in the 1871 which I posted above then that points to them marrying before 1865.
Which of their children is your next in line?

I think you need to put this 'family group sheet' to one side at the moment and start from what you actually know!! (It may well be correct but at the moment it is just confusing!)

Ah, I see.

Umm I'm not quite sure about that then...

Yes, I have their first son listed as James Holford, born in 1863 so I supose that wouldn't quite fit... I guess I just assumed that maybe he was born out of wedlock and left it at that...

I will have another search to see if I can trace a marriage record.

Oh. Well, Violet May Hallford was my great grandmother, her father, Henry George Hallford was my great great grandfather and his father George Hallford was my great great great grandfather!
This is all definate and confirmed with my grandmother and other Genes Reunited members who we've found are relations.
