Mel just want to say thanks for your time and effort,looks like we will never find out who James wife-Henrys mother was

well he was all alone on an island for 7 yrs lol

I was just trying to work that out as there are a lot of children on this tree for Henry and Sarah and a gap of a few years from James 1836 to the next child Eliza born 1845.

Well he died in Glemsford in 1870.

while doing the tree ive even forgotton have I arrived at his son Henry

Seems as though nobody else could either!! I used to live near there in Suffolk. It is on the Essex Suffolk boarders but I looked in Essex too.

Forgot to say that there are three trees on Ancestry with your James on but no wife on any and one tree with the parents as John Gridley and Mary Jeffrey.
