Bruce: I don't know the first name of the Bennett-Wood in question, all i know is that a Bennett-Wood married my relative Francis. And according to the tree I have Francis is with an "i" not an "e". Her father William Head b 1839 was born in Melbourne, Australia. I will see what I can find on the George William Bennett-Wood you found.

Jan: I just want to know who it was who made the name a double barrelled name, my maiden name is Bennett-Wood and as far as I know, no one knows who started it .

Wiliam Head b 1817 was born Kent, England he married Sarah Ellis b 1818 (place of birth unknown).

And I'm sorry if I didn't give the right information to begin with, i don't want to waste your time, but your help will solve a big family mystery.

Not quite sure what you mean - I would think you just want to trace back the Bennett-Wood family? It's just a double-barrelled name.

it would probably help considerably if you named the Bennett-Wood in question, and have you looked for that person in the censuses, for his parents' marriage, etc?

If Francis was a daughter she must be Frances with an e?

I cant find that marriage at freebmd, where and when was it?

I'm trying to find out the origin of the last name "Bennett-Wood". I can trace it back to Francis Head b 1875 who married a "Bennett-Wood".
Francis is the daughter of William Head b 1839 and Ann Margaret Priest.
Any suggestions/ideas?
