Peter...Why do you believe Rose Ann would have a different surname on leaving NH.
It would be most unlikely she married and remained in the orphanage.

jst done a check on that one and its a rose ann birley[1887] married 1910 but her mums mary...

In 1911, there is a Rose France b Grangetown age 24 with husband, married under 1 year, at 14 Thornville Mount Leeds.

Thank you for the marriages; the only thing that stands out there is that Rose was still an inmate at Nazareth House until 1908, which was a religious order.

So when she was discharged she would of been so under a different married name and not Rose Feeney.

From http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/ there is a marriage Sept qr 1902 and 1903 for a Rose Feeney, both could be worth exploring.

Dear all,

I am looking for information on my relation Rose Ann Feeney (could be Rosanna), who was born in 1887 in Grangetown, near Middlesbrough Yorkshire.

I would like it if someone could post her in the 1891 and 1901 census please.

Her parents were James and Catherine Feeney (or Kate), and they died in 1892. I know that Catherine was admitted into Nazereth House.

Her admission papers to Nazareth House in Middlesbrough state she was born in 1890, and she was was admitteed to the house on 23 March 1895 at the recommendation of the Board of Guardians. There is no statement of her parents being dead. Rosie left the house on 19th September 1908, and was in the house thirteen and a half years.

I am trying to find a marriage or death for Rose Ann, and see what became of her after her difficult start in life!

PS Nazerath House was a Roman Catholic run organisation looking after orphans and the elderly etc.
