Hi Flo,

Click on my name and send me your e-mail address, I will then forward you the original census form.

Yes there are some hospital records which were preserved, but I suspect very few in their entirity.

There is a great example on this, google Small&Special and enter their website, if you register you can look at the casenotes as well, but beware some of them are quite sad, the photograph section of the children is wonderful.

Hello Ann,
Can i ask a favour ?
could you send me the info about the hospital bit .
via my name ? only i want to print it out and show my brother!
Only it prints all of the messages , i have found that if they are sent via name i can just print the page needed.

thanks again Flo

Hello Ann,

I know what you mean about guess work, but i still think its him! going on the info i have had off people. Apparently suffered with ashma all his life but got worse the older he became. I did check on the hospital and there was one that fitted with that complaint TB , ASHMA, ect !!
And the age if he was admitted in the jan he would have been 4 going on five.
she went to bilston to tell relatives probably thats where William his father was born.It all seems to fit.

I was wandering Ann? is there anyway that records were kept in hospitals back then? or am i clinging to straws.?

That was me deleting by mistake!

Bucknall hospital is about 1/2 miles east of Hanley!

**Ann** Report 13 Jul 2010 21:51

Hi Flo,

Dont get too excited it may not be him! I checked a load of possibles and he was the only Loner.

Clark is spelt with an E, and why would they not know his BP, if he was admitted accompanied by an adult/relative

Infectious diseases.....could mean a multitude of ailments.....TB etc. There is still the possibility that he was left off the census full stop.

Ann ,

My word !! it does sound like it is him !!

only issue his .birth yr. i do have certs
His parents married in jan 1906 he was b feb 1906
close call!!
It would explain why he was not with them.
Also it would explain why she only had the one child i was told when he was a child
she was very strict with him . perhaps she was being careful?
Does it say what the desease was ? i do know he had ashma in later life, wander if that had anything to do with it?
Anyway Ann again you have come up trumps !! and i thank you very very much, you are a star in my eyes .

Thank you K,

STill do not know the name !! they were most probably
visiting a member of thier family and
stayed there the night.
Its most likely them and a error as been caused abt the info for thier son .

Or it maybe children were not allowed as Ann had noticed there were no children at that address ,and he was left somewhere else ? a child was mentioned.
So i am taking it as them perhaps he will turn up somewhere some day!!
thanks again K

Ann ,

You have been a star!! and i thank you very much for your time, much appreciated. i really thought in the first place they should have been in salop st has thats what William
had on his army record1914. John apparently moved from Hanley abt the age of 3/5 but when someone ages ago checked it out all she found is what you have found,
so i have took it as you say a mistake, It would be nice to know exactly where he was , but you cannot have everything you wish for can you? thanks again Ann.
And i,m making sure this time i will not lose info i have printed it .
By the way thank you for the extra info on his grandparents i did not have that ! thanks

Hello Ann,

I took the info as being them because i could not find them anywhere else.
Knowing they moved by then from Hanley to Salop st Bradley.Williams parents John and margaret had died by then1901/02. so it cannot be them they were visiting.
Mary his aunt a school teacher lived close by no 96.
Perhaps her parents moved there also names being emily and William Hilditch.
Or perhaps he was with them back in Hanley ?
