Find Ancestors

Born 21 Sept 1838, profession: Senior Apothecary with Indian Army until retirement 21 Sept 1893. I have searched birth records in England, Wales, Scotland, and have had searches done for baptism records in Burma and Bangalore. To date his place of birth and date and place of death are a mystery. My next stop is a personal search at the British Library. Internet searches under his name have revealed nothing, even with such a distinctive name!! His date of birth and promotions list was given in an old letter I have from the India Office, as it was then, dated March 1964. Has anyone out there come across this elusive great grandfather of mine please?

Great Grandfather's name, which I missed out of the main text, was Theophilus Todd.

What was his name?????

There are several births for "Male" Todd at the correct time, so maybe one of these was him?
Do you have any idea if he married?

Catherine, he married Violet Rathbourne in October 1860 in St. John's Church, Bellary, Bangalore. I have information on children born, but not his own place of birth or when and where he died.

Crikey Catherine, where did you get all this info from?!!! I already have births of Mabel, May Beatrice (my grandmother), Theodora, Theo Milton and there was another daughter Stella born in 1878. The family always thought there was a Noble and now that mystery you have cleared up nicely. Thank you so much. One daughter was still alive in 1940 in Bangalore (I have a letter from her) but I can't make out the signature unfortunately. I have no idea if Theo Snr returned to the UK or what happened to Violet. After all those children she was probably exhausted. May Beatrice went on to have 11 children of her own, including my father. Must be in the genes!!! Thank you once again.
